Paris attacks: Salah Abdeslam 'worth his weight in gold'

Salah Abdeslam, a suspect in last year's Paris attacks who was arrested in Belgium last week, is "worth his weight in gold" to investigators, his lawyer has said.

"He is collaborating... He is not maintaining his right to remain silent," said lawyer Sven Mary.

Abdeslam was captured in a raid on an apartment in Brussels and is being interrogated by police.
He is the only surviving participant in the attacks in police custody.

However, Mr Mary denied media reports that Abdeslam, 26, would become an informer in return for more lenient treatment.

Abdeslam, a Belgian-born French national dubbed Europe's most-wanted fugitive, is now fighting extradition to France.

There is a reason Laachraoui was identified and captured so quickly.

Abdeslam is singing like a canary. He is fighting extradition to France.

Abdeslamis singing like a canary. He is fighting extradition to France. I imagine Belgium has not promised him anything thing yet in a legally binding way or his attorney would not be going public. If anything was legally promised it is likely null and void now that Abdeslam’s attorney has warned Abdeslam’s co-barbarians that he is giving them up faster than you can draw a Mohammed cartoon.

Nous attendons Abdeslam.

Two American siblings missing after Brussels slaughter.

http://nypost.com/2016/03/22/siblings-f ... s-attacks/

New York siblings Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski called their family from the Brussels airport Tuesday morning to let them know they had arrived safely for their trip home.

Suddenly there was a loud explosion and the line went dead — and their worried relatives have not heard from them since.

Turkey: Ibrahim el-Bakraoui was attacker detained and deported

Image

A Turkish government official has confirmed to the Guardian that the bomber referred to in Erdogan’s earlier statement is Ibrahim el-Bakraoui.

El-Bakraoui, who was identified from fingerprints, blew himself up at Zaventem airport.
During the search of an apartment in Schaerbeek, police found a laptop containing a note written by el-Bakraoui. In the statement, he wrote that he suspected the police were searching for him, and that he did not want to end up in a cell.

As far as I can piece it together....

The rag-head el-Bakraoui brother (above) blew himself up at airport. The other el-Bakraoui brother blew himself up at Metro.

Najim Laachraoui (bombmaker) was the second Airport bomber. Reports of his arrest WRONG.

They did arrest somebody in house raid... Who knows who he is.

The third cart pusher seen at airport (guy in white) is STILL at large.

Latest summary
Raya Jalabi

The attackers
  • Brothers Khalid and Ibrahim el-Bakraoui have been identified as suicide bombers at the metro station and Brussels airport respectively. The two Belgians were already being sought by police due to suspected links to the November terror attacks in Paris.
  • Ibrahim Bakraoui was detained and deported to the Netherlands from Turkey in the summer of 2015, the Turkish Prime Minister said. Turkey said it had warned Belgium that he was a suspected foreign fighter.
  • Belgian media retracted an earlier report that a third suspect, Najim Laachraoui, had been arrested after a major manhunt. Laachraoui has since been tentatively identified as the second airport bomber by French and Belgian media reports, but this has not yet been verified by the Guardian.
  • Three suspects were captured on CCTV at the airport, two wearing black gloves on their left hands thought to have concealed detonators.

The victims
  • In an update on Wednesday afternoon, Belgium’s Health Minister Maggie de Block said that there were 31 dead from both attacks. The number of wounded had gone up to 300 (from 270): 150 were still being treated in hospitals across the country, 61 were still in intensive care.
  • Four patients remain unidentified, as they were either in a coma or were being kept under a medically induced coma.
  • The injured come from 40 countries.
  • Three people have been officially identified among the dead. Adelma Tapia Ruiz was the first victim of the attacks to be named. A wounded Jet Airways crew member pictured in the immediate aftermath of the explosion in her torn and bloodied yellow uniform has been named as Nidhi Chaphekar.

The investigation
  • Anti-terror police raided a flat in Brussels suburb of Anderlecht on Wednesday, making one arrest.
  • During a raid on Schaerbeek following the attacks, police also found 15kg of explosives, 150 litres of acetone, 30 litres of oxygenated water, detonators, a suitcase filled with screws and nails as well as materials, such as plastic boxes, needed to pack the explosives.
  • Islamic State claimed responsibility for the terror attacks, saying its operatives had carried out “a series of bombings with explosive belts and devices”. A later statement promised further attacks, saying “what is coming is worse and more bitter”.

The Global Response
  • Barack Obama said that destroying Isis is his ‘top priority’ in wake of Brussels attacks
  • A minute’s silence for the victims was observed in central Brussels. It ended with sustained applause by those who had gathered at the Place de la Bourse.
  • Belgium has asked EU ministers to meet to discuss the attacks; this could take place on Thursday morning.

The practicalities
  • The Brussels metro closed at 7pm local time. It will reopen on Thursday.
  • Brussels airport announced a suspension of all passenger flights until Saturday 26 March.
  • That’s it from New York, handing over the blog to Ben Quinn in London.

An American couple missing after the Brussels terror attacks have been found injured and are in a hospital in the Belgian capital, their family has confirmed.

Justin and Stephanie Shults, who live and work in Belgium but are originally from Kentucky, had not been heard from since they dropped off Mrs Shults' mother at Brussels Airport on Tuesday morning. The mother survived the blast.

After a frantic search for their loved ones' whereabouts, their family have been told by the U.S. State Department that the pair are in hospital in Belgium.

The severity of the couple's injuries is not known at this time, family confirmed.

The search is still ongoing for a brother and sister from New York who were caught up in Tuesday's barbaric attacks.

Siblings Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski were at Brussels Airport at the time of the two explosions and have not been seen or heard from since.

According to Dutch media reports, the brother and sister were on the phone to their family when the blasts took place and then the line went dead.

Karen Northshield, an American personal trainer living and working in Brussels, was reported missing after the attack on the Brussels airport on Tuesday.

But on Wednesday, colleagues broke the happy news that Northshield had been found at a local hospital.

Paul Tucker, a personal trainer from the UK who works with Northshield in Brussels, told the Telegraph: 'I have been told this morning that Karen is in hospital in intensive care. She is alive but we don't know her condition or her injuries.

'I think she was flying back to the U.S. for the Easter holidays. She has a sister in Brussels who is with her in hospital. It's very upsetting but that's all I know. I don't know what state she is in in intensive care.'

It seems to me that within "Islam" you have 10's maybe 100's of thousands of people, raised on notions of hate whose life ambition is to KILL others and commit suicide. It is not possible to change that. The solution is to gather them all together someplace with a LARGE pile of explosives (perhaps A big friendly Nuke) and let them fill their boots :cool

Exactly! This is what I envision. At one time, after our troops pulled out of Iraq, I do believe they were all in a localized area. Iraq & Syria (maybe Turkey) They are everywhere now, 50% of London is populated with Muslims.

Need a plan similar to the criminal round-up they do here. Tell them they've won a new TV, pick it up at certain place, certain time. When they show, arrest them.

But on a MUCH larger scale with your solution as the ending.

I think Individual European countries and the EU as a block have to all "Grow a Pair" and DEAL with the refugees and even later generation home grown mal-contents. Whatever it takes... control them, assimilate them, deport them, lock them up, even kill a few.
It's THEIR problem. They should at the same time STOP letting more of them into any European country... stop most of them at least. They need to stay back in Syria or wherever....
USA should take a similar stance BEFORE they have large enclaves of them. Same applies to Southern border and that crop of pre-discontented Democrat voters.
There does also need to be a sort out of ISIS (and others) where they nest and THAT will likely drive more refugees/terrorists towards Europe (and beyond)... all the more reason to have measures in place to "repel boarders"

‘Second metro attacker’ – reports

French newspaper Le Monde reports that a second man, carrying a large bag, was seen on CCTV in the Brussels metro with Khalid el-Bakraoui, who authorities say carried out the suicide bombing at Maelbeek station.

Le Monde says police are now searching for a potential second accomplice – officials have said they are hunting for a suspect seen at Zaventem airport who is believed to have fled the scene without detonating his bomb.

This is the first mention of a second attacker in the metro bombing. The Guardian is not yet able to verify this report.

RTBF also reports that a “will” found by police on a computer, apparently written by suicide bomber Ibraham el-Bakraoui, mentioned a man called Mohammed Bakkali.

Bakkali was arrested in November. He was said to be connected to an apartment in Auvelais, near the central Belgian city of Namur, that was used by the Paris attackers.

RTBF speculates that it could be Bakkali – rather than captured Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam – to whom Bakraoui was referring when he said:

If I go on like this [I] will end up in a prison cell next to him.

A pot-bellied jihadi 'guru' who is known as 'Father Christmas' was today exposed as one of the inspirations behind the terror network which planned the devastating attacks on both Paris and Brussels.

Khalid Zerkani - who is currently in jail after recruiting Islamist fighters and petty criminals - had links with bombmaker Najim Laachraoui, one of the suicide bombers who attacked Brussels airport this week.

He was previously said to have recruited Abdelhamid Abaaoud, mastermind of the Paris attacks, to the jihadist cause, funding terror by training youths to be pickpockets and shoplifters.

The revelations came as police continued to hunt six or more terror suspects believed to be on the run after their involvement in Tuesday's attacks on the airport and Brussels Metro, including the 'Man in White' who apparently wheeled explosives into Brussels airport before fleeing the scene, and a man suspected of being the second Metro bomber.

Police are rushing to hunt down the new suspect, who was caught on camera with a large bag shortly before the blast, following reports that he did not get on the train where Khalid El Bakraoui detonated a bomb and killed 20 commuters.

Thanks for the neat and clean synopsis Rumpole.

The problem with Islam in a nut shell is that the savages who live Sharia Law are devils clothed in flesh. They have no respect or love for humanity.

More Paris than Brussels........ I'll leave it in this thread for now.....

French claim to have caught some rag heads and foiled another terror attack.

Quote:
“A terrorist attack was foiled on Sunday morning,” Bernard Cazeneuve, the interior minister, said on Wednesday. “The police discovered an arsenal of weapons of war. A document was also found showing without any doubt that the individual was planning to imminently carry out an attack. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.” Cazeneuve said the man appeared to be targeting one or two churches.

Alexander and Sacha Pinczowski were slaughtered in Brussels. They are the siblings who were talking to their mum on the phone, the phone went silent and they have been “missing” ever since that moment. Their bodies have been identified.

It is frustrating that ONLY after an event/bomb/deaths do authorities (Belgium/French) grow a pair and do raids... drag people in, search, find bombs etc.

WHY are they not doing these raids ALL THE TIME... hauling in terrorists, supporters, closing down appartments used as nests and labs etc.
