I just heard on France 24 that the suspect they arrested and released near Belgium border was in fact the now FUGITIVE Abdeslam Salah who is the 8th terrorist

The attackers

Here is what we know so far about the seven terrorists who died – and other suspects who might be connected to the attacks:

The Bataclan attackers
Three attackers are known to have died when French security forces raided the concert venue: two by detonating suicide belts and one who police said was shot by their officers.

One of the suicide bombers was Omar Ismaïl Mostefai, identified byprints taken from a severed finger. You can read more on Mostefai here.

The identity of his two accomplices is not yet known.

Boulevard Voltaire attacker
Ibrahim Abdeslam, also reported as Brahim Abdeslam, 31, one of three brothers believed to be involved, was identified by prosecutors as the man who rented a Seat car used in the attacks. He detonated his explosive vest at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe, seriously injuring a bystander and killing himself.

The Stade de France attackers
Three suicide attackers died at this site by detonating explosive vests. One was Bilal Hadfi, aged 19 or 20, who lived in Belgium.

A Syrian passport for a 25-year-old called Ahmed Almohamed was found here. It was registered by a refugee who landed on the Greek island of Leros in October, but authorities have not confirmed whether that man’s fingerprints match any of the attackers’ remains.

We do not yet have information on the third attacker at the stadium.

Suspect on the run
Police have put out an international alert and arrest warrant for 26-year-old Salah Abdeslam, brother of one of the attackers who died. Salah Abdeslam is thought to have rented the black Volkswagen Polo used by the group that attacked the Bataclan. He was born and lived in Belgium but is a French national.

In the hours after the attacks, French police stopped Salah Abdeslam and two other men close to the border with Belgium, but allowed them to go on their way because their names were not at that stage on any wanted list.

Police now say he should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.

French police put out a wanted notice for Salah Abdeslam in connection with Friday’s attacks in Paris.


The arrested
A third Abdeslam brother, named in some reports as Mohammed Abdeslam, is believed to have been among seven people arrested on Saturday in the Molenbeek-Saint-Jean district of Brussels, suspected of being connected to the attacks.

Mostefai’s brother, father and sister-in-law, along with a number of other family members, are still being questioned by police.

Several people have also been detained in overnight anti-terrorist raids in Toulouse, Grenoble, Jeumont and Bobigny, but it is unclear whether any of these are directly connected to the Paris attacks. The Toulouse arrests are not said to be directly linked, but were carried out under the national state of emergency declared by president François Hollande after the Friday night attacks.

I am listening to the talking heads on France 24.

It's disappointing, but not surprising.... they are going through contorted-speak to blame everything but Islam
Lots of hand-wringing about disaffected "youth".... but skate around the fact that there are radical mosques and online sites targeting and indoctrinating these feeble-minded people.

They are saying that this attack crosses a line.. things are different now.. but sadly I have heard that before... the world DID change at the instant of 9-11... it did for me.. but I see even that event failed to wake most people up.

They wont entertain the notion that the open borders of the EU facilitate these people

Paris attacks 'mastermind' Abdel-Hamid Abu Oud: what we know

Belgian national of Moroccan origin has been on the run since police raid on suspected Isis cell in Verviers in January



The alleged mastermind of the Paris attacks that killed at least 129 people has been named as the leader of an Islamic State (Isis) cell who was sought by police earlier this year but remains at large.

French officials said Abdel-Hamid Abu Oud, 27, was instrumental in organising and executing the gun and suicide bomb attacks on Friday night that wrought devastation in central Paris, AFP reported.

Abu Oud, a Belgian of Moroccan origin, was first named by police as a wanted extremist after a gun battle in eastern Belgium in January during a raid on an Isis cell.

That security operation was believed to have destroyed a cell plotting to assassinate Belgian police officers, with two suspects killed in a fierce gun battle with police during the raid in the eastern town of Verviers.

Abu Oud, the group’s suspected leader, spent time fighting alongside Isis in Syria. He was known to security forces after appearing in an Isis video, at the wheel of a car transporting mutilated bodies to a mass grave.

He was described as being on the run after the attack and has now been named as a leader in the Paris attacks. Koen Geens, the Belgian justice minister, said in January: “Last night’s arrests did not succeed in nabbing the right person. We are still actively looking for him and I presume we will succeed.”
