After the confusion of Friday night, more clarity is emerging about the attackers involved in the synchronised atrocities.

While police still investigate their identities, we now know that seven terrorists died in the course of the attacks.

Six of them blew themselves up – the first-ever suicide bombings on French soil.

Two gunmen detonated suicide belts as police stormed the Bataclan music venue, and a third was shot by police.

Three suicide bombers also detonated their explosives outside the Stade de France stadium.

The seventh attacker blew himself up on a busy street near the concert hall, also injuring one other person.

French senator identifies Stade de France attacker

Speaking to CNN, French senator Nathalie Goulet has confirmed that Bilal Hadfi was one of the suicide bombers who attacked the Stade de France. He is said to have been born in 1995, and had been living in Belgium.

The Washington Post had earlier named Hadfi as one of the attackers, and reported that he is thought to have fought with Islamic State in Syria.

Here’s a round-up of what we know so far about the attackers: ****

Paris attacks: Police hunt suspect as seven others are held in Belgium

Goulet sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and was briefed on several of the names being investigated in connection with the attacks.

Goulet said that the suspect on the run is most probably the bomb-maker and is one of the three brothers thought to have been involved in the attacks. “With such heavy material, they need a professional.”

Despite publicly confirming the details, Goulet still urged caution because information is still being confirmed slowly.

Paris attacks: Police hunt suspect as seven others are held in Belgium

One dead attacker and one wanted man have been named, and a trio of brothers is believed to be involved in the bloodshed

French authorities have said seven suicide attackers died in Friday’s carnage and are hunting another believed to be “directly involved” in the bloodshed. Belgian authorities have arrested seven other men in connection with the attacks.

Only one of the dead attackers, and one wanted man, have been officially named, but details are starting to emerge about others suspected of involvement. Among them is a trio of brothers - one dead, one arrested and one on the run.

1. Omar Ismaïl Mostefai was the first attacker named by French authorities. The 29-year-old is of Algerian heritage and grew up in Courcouronnes, just south of Paris, where he picked up a criminal record for petty offences. He was identified by prints taken from a severed finger found in the Bataclan concert hall, where he detonated his explosives belt.

French intelligence took note of Mostafei when he began spending time at a mosque with radical links in 2010, but they lost track of him in 2013, when he may have travelled to Syria, the Washington Post reported. His brother said they had not spoken for years, but he is still being questioned by police along with six others, including Mostefai’s father and sister-in-law.

2. Salah Abdeslam. Police have put out a wanted poster for the 26-year-old. Salah is thought to have rented the black Volkswagen Polo used by the group that attacked the Bataclan concert hall, the Associated Press reported. He was born and lived in Belgium.

3. Salah’s brother Ibrahim Abdeslam was identified by prosecutors as the man who rented a Seat vehicle used in the attacks. He carried out the suicide attack at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe. He was 31.

4. A third Abdeslam brother, who has not been named, is believed to have been among seven people arrested on Saturday in the Molenbeek-Saint-Jean district of Brussels, suspected of being connected to the attacks.

5. Another attacker who lived in Belgium was named by the Washington Post as Bilal Hadfi. He is thought to have fought for Islamic State in Syria, the paper said, but did not give his nationality.

6. A Syrian passport for a 25-year-old called Ahmed Almohamed was found near the site of one of the bombings. It was registered by a refugee who landed on a Greek island on 7 October, but French authorities have not said if that man’s fingerprints match any of the attackers’ remains.

7. A second Stade de France attacker was identified by prosecutors as another Frenchman who lived in Brussels. Few details have been revealed about him, other than that he was just 20 years old.

8. There are no details as yet on other dead attackers. Seven men have been detained in Brussels over the weekend in connection with the attacks

France has conducted airstrikes on the Isis stronghold of Raqqa in Syria, the French ministry of defence has said.

Earlier on Saturday, the US said it would be intensifying strikes against Isis in Syria, along with France.

Thanks Rumpole The Daily Mail only lists six dead Muslim savages. I'll see if I can find the one you found. I can only find reports of two detonating suicide bombs at the stadium.

AP: French police released fugitive suspect hours after Paris attack

Four French officials have told the Associated Press that police questioned and released the fugitive suspect hours after the Paris attacks.

The questioning came when police pulled over a car near the Belgian border, hours after authorities had already identified Salah Abdeslam as the renter of a Volkswagen Polo that was abandoned at the scene of the attack.

Abdeslam is now the focus of an international manhunt. One of his brothers detonated a suicide vest in central Paris and another was ultimately detained in Belgium.

He was one of three people in a car stopped by police Saturday morning, hours after the attacks that left at least 129 dead, the officials said.

Three French police officials and a top French security official confirmed all that officers stopped Abdeslam and checked his ID and then let him go.

The officials spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly disclose details of the investigation.

The French defense ministry has said the “massive” airstrikes which hit Raqqa on Sunday night, was carried out in coordination with US forces. Twenty bombs were dropped, destroying a command center, jihadi recruitment center, a munitions depot and a training camp for fighters, the defense ministry said in a statement.

Quote:

As France announced its “massive” airstrikes on the Isis stronghold in Syria, the New York Times reports that the Paris attackers had communicated with Isis members in Syria, according to French and US officials.

The attackers in Friday’s terrorist assault in Paris communicated at some point beforehand with known members of the Islamic State in Syria, officials on both sides of the Atlantic say, adding evidence to the assertions that the radical group coordinated or helped carry out the attacks rather than simply inspired them.

President François Hollande of France has characterized the attacks as “an act of war” carried out by the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL. He provided no specific information, but the Islamic State released statements on Saturday claiming responsibility for the attacks, part of increasing indications that the group is becoming more capable of extending its reach far beyond its base in Syria and Iraq.

It is a unique problem that the Muslim’s barbaric attack on innocents in Paris present to Obama, Merkel, Hollande, Cameron and the various other Muslim terrorists sympathizers. Inconveniently there is no outsider or simple #hashtag that can be added to social media posts, no # that can be written on a piece of paper and posed with while sporting a pouty face before hitting the golf course.

There is no Charlie Hebdo satirist provocateur to lull the lambs into a false sense of safety, after all they do not draw pictures of Muhammad, they are safe.

Except;

#peopleeatingdinner #peopleenjoyingaconcert #peopleatasportssatadium

Suddenly the lambs are not so sure of their safety because they fit the #hashtag. The overlords cannot have people believing that Muslims will kill people just because it is what Muslims do.

If we survive as a free people and history is written with accuracy it will condemn Obama, Merkel, Hollande, Cameron with greater contemptuous ridicule than it does Neville Chamberlain. They have not only clasped hands with the devil they have handed their people over as a sacrifice to appease him.

Bombing ISIS in Syria is a GOOD first step.. something that can be (and has been) done straight away... PLENTY of targets there.. but I would like to see a HALT to refugee influx. I'd like to see an end to the very notion of "refugees".. just an excuse to short circuiting normal immigration checks. As for the ones they already have in France (and Belgium) I think they should close down the Muslim "ghettos" "no-go" areas. Send in troops to "police" them at the very least. Tidy them up. Run full checks on all who treat such places as hideouts. Move in on Mosques and put a stop to the harboring of terrorists and indoctrination with barbaric notions.

After all that I might get really tough :cool
