Thanks Molly for finding the "I am ISIS" story!

I know the fog of war and all that but I think they caught a live one that is my intuition, several stations reported a capture, then it went black about him. Why would they want the savages to know that they have one of their number? Enhanced interrogation ? I hope that they do have one and are smart enough not to talk about it.

The road around the Bataclan theatre reopened this morning for the first time since Friday’s massacre, as more details emerged of the police operation against the terrorists.

A screen still hid the front of the concert hall from view, but Parisians were able to leave flowers, and pictures of those killed, in the green square immediately opposite.

What we know so far

‘Safe houses’ and vehicles investigated
  • A black Renault Clio is the third car found in Paris with Belgian numberplates that may be linked to the attacks – the vehicle was reportedly hired by Abdeslam.
  • Investigators now believe that two safe houses in the Paris suburbs were used by Friday night’s attackers.
  • A room in Appart’City Alfortville, a hotel in southern Paris, was booked in the name of Salah Abdeslam, the attack suspect currently on the run, from 11-17 November.
  • The second location, raided by police on Sunday night, is in the north-eastern suburb of Bobigny, not far from the Stade de France.

Suspects tracked and arrests made
  • German police in the Belgian border town of Aachen have arrested two women and one man in an operation linked to the attacks last Friday.
  • British police have detained two men for terrorism offences as they tried to leave the country via Dover, but said the arrests were not linked to attacks in Paris.
  • The suspect Abdeslam travelled to Austria from Germany in September for unknown reasons, the country’s interior minister has said.
  • The voice on an Isis video distributed via social media after the attacks has reportedly been identified as that of Fabien Clain, a French citizen from Toulouse who has been active on the Islamist scene and is based in Raqqa.

Kerry in Paris
  • The US secretary of state, John Kerry, said he had discussed how the two nations would strengthen their cooperation to combat Islamic State during a brief meeting with François Hollande.
  • Kerry said that he hoped a ceasefire between Syria’s government and opposition could be just weeks away.

France calls for EU help following Paris attacks
  • The French defence minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, has made a formal request for help from his country’s EU partners, the first time the mutual assistance article in the European Union’s treaty has been invoked.
  • EU economic affairs commissioner, Pierre Moscovici, has told a news conference that France will suffer no penalties for missing budgetary targets, in order to spend more on security.

French police launch fresh raids overnight
  • Bernard Cazeneuve, the interior minister, told France Info this morning that 128 searches were conducted on Monday night.
  • The searches were conducted as part of the state of emergency, Cazeneuve said, without giving further details, although the searches are not believed to be directly related to the investigation into Friday’s attacks.
  • The Eiffel Tower has closed again, just one day after it reopened following the Paris attacks.

New round of airstrikes against Isis
  • The French military dropped 16 bombs on Isis targets in the stronghold of Raqqa, hitting a command centre and a training centre, the country’s defence ministry has said.
  • Russia’s intelligence agency has announced that traces of explosives were found in the plane that crashed en route from Sharm el-Sheikh. The FSB is offering an enormous $50m reward for information that leads to the capture of those who planned the bomb attack.
  • Russia also staged airstrikes on Raqqa in northern Syria, US and French officials have said.
  • RAF Tornado fighter jets have bombed a large group of more than 30 Isis terrorists attacking Kurdish forces in northern Iraq, the Ministry of Defence has said.

The Germany-Holland match was cancelled less than 90 minutes before kick-off.
A German police official has told local television that the match was canceled after information that a bomb attack was planned in the stadium (via Reuters).
German daily Bild is reporting that anti-terror units are on their way to the stadium now

Meanwhile, fans have been streaming into Wembley stadium in London in anticipation of this evening’s football friendly between France and England. A crowd of around 80,000 is expected, writes my colleague Scott Murray.
Kick off is at 8pm local time in London, 9pm in Paris.

Updating this list of perps.....

The guy on the run Salah Abdeslam, as well as another now sought, seem to be involved with the 3rd group of Three terrorists who drove around shooting at a few locations. Eventually one blew himself up at Comptoir Voltaire. The other two are on the run.

So.. THREE cars, THREE groups of THREE Terrorists.. with 3 "missions" (locations)

Bataclan theatre
    Omar Ismaïl Mostefai, 29
Mostefai was the first suicide attacker named by French authorities, identified by prints taken from a severed finger. A Turkish official has told the Guardian that Turkey twice tipped off French authorities about Mostefai but only received an information request about him after the Paris attacks.

    Samy Amimour, 28

Detained in October 2012 on suspicion of “associating with terrorists” and planning to leave for Yemen and held for four days. He went to Syria in September 2013, violating his parole.

    unidentified
Third man was shot by security forces in the Bataclan

Stade de France
    Bilal Hadfi, 20
French but living in Neder-over-Hembeek, Belgium, and became quickly radicalised last year. Went to fight in Syria and then returned to Belgium earlier this year.

    “Ahmad Almohammad”, 25
The name of a 25 year-old from Idlib found on a forged Syrian passport found near one of the bodies of the attackers at the Stade de France. The fingerprints of an attacker matched those taken from a man who passed through Greece in October but reports from Serbia say that another man has been detained there with an identical passport, suggesting that several may be in circulation.

    Unidentified
The third suicide bomber to die outside the Stade de France is yet to be identified.

Comptoir Voltaire
    Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31
Ibrahim, also known as Brahim Abdeslam, died at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe after detonating his suicide vest, according to French prosecutors, and was a French national living in the Brussels district of Molenbeek.

    Salah Abdeslam
    Sought by police

    Unidentified
3rd car terrorist from abandoned car. Now second man on the run.

Also Tuesday, lawyers for two other suspects admitted their clients drove to France to pick up Salah Abdeslam early Saturday.

Investigators say the Belgian men, 27-year-old Mohammed Amri and 21-year-old Hamza Attou, may have supplied some of the suicide bombs used in Friday's attacks, since ammonium nitrate, a fertilizer that can be used to make explosives, was discovered in a search of their home. Their attorneys would not comment on those accusations.

Amri's lawyer, Xavier Carrette, says his client denies any involvement in the attacks. Carrette says the only thing Amri admits "is having been in France to pick up a friend."

Attou's attorney, Carine Couquelet, says Amri drove his own car and that her client went along to keep Amri company. Couquelet says that around 4 a.m. Saturday, the pair picked up Abdeslam and they then returned to Brussels.

Amri and Attou were held on charges of terrorist acts and being part of a terrorist conspiracy. They were arrested in the Molenbeek-Saint-Jean neighborhood of Brussels, a district linked to radical plots and the site of heavy police activity Monday.

Ninth attacker

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/n ... -terrorism

Quote:
French police have said that video footage of the Paris attacks reveals the presence of a ninth, previously unnoticed, jihadi, who could still be at large.

The video shows the new suspect in a black Seat car with two other attackers, opening fire with assault rifles through its window at customers at a bar in central Paris, a source close to the inquiry told Agence France Presse.

The car was later found abandoned in Paris suburb of Montreuil, with three AK47 rifles in it.

One of the other attackers in the car is believed to have been Ibrahim Abdeslam, a Belgian jihadi who blew himself up one Paris’s boulevard Voltaire.

His brother, Salah Abdeslam, is on the run and is the target of a Europe-wide manhunt.

If there was another man in the Seat, he is unaccounted for and police were facing the possibility they were chasing two fugitives from the crime scene rather than just one.

Salah Abdeslam was last seen crossing the French border to Belgium in the company of two other men early on Saturday morning. Those two alleged accomplices were detained in Brussels over the weekend and charged on Tuesday with terrorism offences for their role in the Paris attacks, after admitting that they had escorted Abdeslam back from the French capital to Brussels.

Prime suspect apparently cleared three French checkpoints on drive back to Brussels hotbed
Reuters, Nov 18, 2015

BRUSSELS/PARIS – A Belgian fugitive suspected of taking part in the Paris attacks was stopped three times by French police as he was driven back to Brussels the following morning but allowed to carry on his way, a defense lawyer said on Tuesday.

As the manhunt continued for Salah Abdeslam, 26, a lawyer for a friend accused of being his accomplice, and who admits driving Abdeslam home from Paris, told Belgian broadcaster RTBF that a previously reported police check on them as they neared the Belgian border about 9 a.m. on Saturday was only the last of three such occasions when French police halted their car.

The cars: what do we know

Various cars have been linked to the suspects involved in the Paris attacks. Here’s what we know about them:

The black Seat
On Sunday, police found a black Seat car abandoned in the east Parisian suburb of Montreuil. The rental car, which was Belgian-registered, reportedly contained three Kalashnikovs.

Video unearthed on Tuesday showed an unidentified person travelling in the black Seat with two other attackers, spotted in a video found by investigators on Tuesday. The Seat was used by gunmen who opened fire on people in restaurants in the 10th and 11th arrondisssments.

One of the attackers in the car is believed to have been Ibrahim Abdeslam, who blew himself up on boulevard Voltaire.

The black Renault Clio
A black Renault Clio was found in in Albert Kahn Square, in the 18th arrondissement on Tuesday. It is believed to have been rented by Salah Abdeslam, but it is unclear what its purpose was in the plot.

Islamic State’s official statement claiming responsibility mentioned attacks in the 10th, 11th and the 18th district. No attack took place in the 18th district on Friday.

The grey VW Polo
The Polo was rented in Belgium by Salah Abdeslam and found near the Bataclan after the attacks.

The VW Golf
Salah Abdeslam was stopped by police travelling in a Volkswagen Golf with two other men in a routine check near the French-Belgian border early on Saturday morning. The men were allowed to continue their journey, because their names were not yet on a wanted list.

Abdeslam’s two companions, Mohammed Amri, 27, and Hamza Attouh, 21, were charged on Tuesday with terrorism offences after admitting that they had driven Abdeslam back from the French capital to Brussels.

The VW Golf with Montenegrin plates
On 5 November, a 51-year-old Montenegrin man was stopped in another Volkswagen Golf, this one with Montenegrin plates, near Germany’s border with Austria. Officials found automatic weapons, dynamite, hand grenades and ammunition. The suspect’s mobile phone and GPS system indicated he was en route to Paris. The man is in custody in Bavaria in southern Germany on suspicion of trying to supply arms and explosives to the Paris attackers, authorities in Munich have said.

Air France flight diverted to Salt Lake City after 'security incident'

An Air France flight travelling from Los Angeles to Paris has been diverted to Salt Lake City.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration told the media:

It was diverted to Salt Lake City because of a security incident.

You need to contact local authorities and TSA [Transportation Security Administration] for more information.

The flight was an Airbus 380 Air France flight 65, heading to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.

We do not have further information on the nature of the incident, and it could, of course, be entirely unrelated to ongoing events in France.

Reader @MoncriefIsMe points out that the Air France website indicates that one of the diverted flights is due to take off again from Salt Lake City within the next couple of hours – suggesting that whatever security incident prompted the diversion might now have been discounted or dealt with.

The flight diverted to Halifax is also due to resume its journey to Paris, according to the Air France flight tracker:

Quote:
Air France has now put out a statement about the diversion of two of its Paris-bound flights from the US on Wednesday night.

It confirms that the two flights were diverted due to “anonymous threats made in phone calls”.

Air France: threats made against two flights

English Translation:
Quote:
Air France confirms that flights AF055 en route from Washington Dulles (IAD) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and AF065 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) were subjects of anonymous threats received [the French statement adds: “by telephone”] after their respective take-offs.

As a precautionary measure and to conduct all necessary security checks, Air France, applying the safety regulations in force, decided to request the landings of both aircraft.

Flight AF055 landed safely in Halifax (YHZ) and flight AF065 landed in Salt Lake City (SLC).

Local authorities are carrying out complete inspections of the aircraft, the passengers and their luggage.

An investigation will be led by the authorities to identify the source of the telephone call.
