Thanks. That link has such good photos. I see it's Trump's fault. :roll

I found the motive.

Ally Mohammed, who works in the deli across the street, described the family as 'very nice, hardworking people'. He said that the suspect's mother came into his store and was very pleasant and that his father owned a grocery store in the area.

Mohammed said that he believed the suspect lived with his brother, sister-in-law and their child, of around four years old.

'What he did has nothing to do with Islam, maybe he was brainwashed,' Mohammed said

The story has been fleshed out at Daily Mail....

Taxi driver 'intentionally' detonated crude bomb made of Xmas lights, sugar and match heads in NYC subway tunnel after 'seeing Christmas posters on wall' and days after 'big row with his family'

  • A pipe bomb prematurely went off in an underground tunnel linking the Times Square subway station and the Port Authority bus terminal Monday morning around 7:20am
  • The suspect has been identified as unmarried 27-year-old green-card holder Akayed Ullah
  • Ullah came to the U.S. seven years ago from Bangladesh on a visa for people who have family in the U.S.
  • He was the only one seriously injured in the blast
  • Ullah was taken to Bellevue Hospital for serious burns and lacerations to his hands and abdomen
  • CNN reports that the bomb detonated prematurely and that if it had gone off as intended the damage could have been catastrophic
  • Ullah says he made the explosive himself last week, after reading instructions on the internet
  • The FBI has been swarming multiple addresses connected to Ullah in Brooklyn
  • His parents have since released a statement saying they are 'outraged' by the treatment of their family
  • Neighbors say they heard yelling and screaming coming for the apartment the last two nights and that Ullah was not a friendly person
  • Ullah told investigators that he carried out the attack as revenge for recent actions by Israelis against Muslim Palestinians in the Gaza Strip
  • The incident happened just days after President Trump sparked demonstrations across the world by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital city
  • Trump said in a statement that 'lax' immigration policies were to blame for the attack, and urged Congress to 'enact legislative reforms to protect the American people'

The taxi driver behind the failed terror attack in a New York City told investigators he meant to detonate his homemade pipe bomb in the busy subway station after seeing the walls festooned with Christmas posters - in revenge for violence against Muslims all over the world.

While initial reports suggested the crude pipe bomb, made from a pipe, a 9-volt battery, match heads, sugar, Christmas tree lights and screws, had detonated prematurely, suspect Akayed Ullah, 27, insisted he set off the bomb deliberately.

The bombing attack at the Port Authority Bus Station subway station comes just days after Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, sparking violence between Israelis and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Ullah, who was arrested and taken for questioning after the bomb only partially detonated, told police he was walking through the underground tunnel at 7.20am, between the Port Authority station towards Times Square, when he saw the Christmas-themed posters on the wall, which reminded him of ISIS' calls last month for militants and lone wolves to attack holiday markets.

'He acknowledges he purposely set it off then and there,' a senior law enforcement official told the New York Post.

The Bangladeshi immigrant added that he was specifically inspired by ISIS, 'not Al-Qaeda'.

Authorities say that if the explosive had fully detonated in the busy Midtown Manhattan subway station, there would have been more injuries and doubtless loss of life.

:doh From your last Daily Mail link:
Quote:
His parents have since released a statement saying they are 'outraged' by the treatment of their family.

'We are heartbroken by the violence that was targeted at our city today, and by the allegations being made against a member of our family,' the family said in a statement read by Albert Fox Cahn, legal director for Council on American-Islamic Relations-New York.

'But we are also outraged by the behavior of law enforcement officials who have held children as small as 4 years old out in the cold and who held a teenager out of high school classes to interrogate him without a lawyer, without his parents,' the statement continued.

'These are not the sorts of actions that we expect from our justice system, and we have every confidence that our justice system will find the truth behind this attack and that we will, in the end, be able to learn what occurred today.'

I hear he got to US because his AUNT was a US citizen :doh

OBVIOUSLY "Chain Migration" is nuts and has to STOP... but in the mean time... the person who is the US "anchor" should be held responsible for the people she enables.... The AUNT should be stripped of citizenship ad she should be deported.. along with all the other people she has "sponsored"

The actual savage Akayed Ullah, should be imprisoned for life... at least. In fact I think the death penalty should apply.

Terrorism is terrorism... you don't get a lesser penalty just because you are stupid and are crap at carrying it out!!!

NYC always reminded me of New Orleans. Everyone should visit once and that's it.(Years back anyway, not worth it now.)
One and done.
I could not live in fear and if the people that live there don't have some degree of fear, they are crazy.
Could you imagine living in apartment next to this guy.

New Orleans is a hell hole. I lived there. Everyone makes a big deal out of Mardi Gras, French Quarter
yada yada.

Visited NYC once. NYC is just a bigger hell hole. Same Same.

No bail for NYC terror bomb suspect after video court hearing from hospital bed
John Bacon and Kevin McCoy, USA TODAY
Published 9:18 a.m. ET Dec. 13, 2017 | Updated 5:21 p.m. ET Dec. 13, 2017

New York City bombing suspect Akayed Ullah was held without bail Wednesday during an initial court appearance held by video from his hospital bed as authorities in the U.S. and Bangladesh investigated any links he might have to terror groups.

Ullah, a native of Bangladesh who has lived in Brooklyn since 2011, was being treated for burns and cuts suffered Monday after he partially detonated a pipe bomb in a crowded subway pedestrian tunnel near Times Square. Three bystanders also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The video from Bellevue Hospital for the presentment before federal Magistrate Judge Katharine Parker showed Ullah with his head propped up by a pillow and his body covered up to his neck by sheets, the Associated Press reported.

Ullah was formally notified that a five-count federal complaint on Tuesday charged him with bombing a public place, use of a weapon of mass destruction, providing support for a foreign terrorist organization, destruction of property by fire or explosives, and use of a destructive device in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The 27-year-old defendant could face a life term in prison if convicted of using a weapon of mass destruction.

Ullah, who allegedly told investigators he had been inspired by the Islamic State, attested to the accuracy of a financial affidavit provided to the court. Parker then approved the appointment of Amy Gallicchio, a federal public defender, to represent him.

Gallicchio consented to prosecutors' request for Ullah to be held without bail.

Ullah also acknowledged he had received a copy of the court complaint and waived a formal reading of the charges.

Parker scheduled a preliminary court hearing for Jan. 13. However, that proceeding will not take place if Ullah is indicted before the hearing date, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Akayed Ullah Guilty of ISIS-Inspired Bombing Near Times Square
By Benjamin Weiser, Emily Palmer | The New York Times | November 6, 2018

A man who told the police he was inspired by the Islamic State when he detonated a pipe bomb last year in a crowded subway corridor near Times Square was found guilty of federal terrorism charges on Tuesday.

The verdict came after a weeklong trial in which jurors were shown videos that tracked the man’s journey from his Brooklyn apartment until the moment of the blast.

The would-be suicide bomber, Akayed Ullah, 28, a Bangladeshi immigrant, was seriously injured when his makeshift weapon malfunctioned on Dec. 11, and at least one person near him was wounded by shrapnel. The explosion caused panic during the early morning rush, filling parts of nearby Port Authority terminal with smoke and sending thousands of commuters fleeing.

Throughout Mr. Ullah’s trial in Manhattan, the defense never disputed he had set off a bomb. Not only did the government have video of Mr. Ullah as he was thrown to the ground by the force of the blast, the authorities also found bomb components in his apartment. Mr. Ullah also admitted responsibility for the attack during a four-hour interrogation at Bellevue Hospital Center, a New York police detective testified.

“He stated that he did it for the Islamic State — that he did it for Allah,” the detective, Daniel Byrne, said.

Mr. Ullah was convicted of using a weapon of mass destruction, bombing a public transportation system and other counts. He could face life imprisonment when he is sentenced by Judge Richard J. Sullivan on April 5.[2019]
