5:33 p.m. ET: Prosecutor Martinez is asking Geffner about a Tennessee case he testified in where the judge called him nothing more than a "hired gun."

5:31 p.m. ET: Willmott has concluded her direct examination of Geffner.

“The tests ultimately have to be put into context, which is why I can’t diagnose her or anybody else without doing it. So the tests are for lack of better words give you guides, working hypotheses. Your interview is to clarify, your records and history are to clarify and to build the context,” said Geffner.

IIRC, the excluded part of the testimony in Hawaii was Dr. Geffner testifying to MEDICAL issues (just like he is doing today).

Doesn't this doctor own the company the State is paying???

5:40 p.m. ET: Geffner agreed with Martinez that his affidavit in the Texas case was based in part on hearsay.

5:39 p.m. ET: The Tennessee judge issued his opinion in November 2010. Now Martinez is asking Geffner about a Texas case he worked on, where there trial court said Geffner's affidavit in the case lacked credibility.

Juan drive me nuts! I get dizzy watching him.

He's a good prosecutor, but would be so much more effective if he didn't walk in circles and didn't try to burn every witness.

I'm concerned that some/one jurors will get really turned off by him.

I agree that Juan is abrasive, especially when it is not necessary. That can be a turn off, but in this case, I guess I don't mind.

The thing is, he does it to his OWN witnesses. He got snippy with Det. Flores when he was on the stand and with a couple of the young women who testified.

5:51 p.m. ET: Martinez is asking Geffner about the psychological test called the MMPI. Earlier today, Geffner said the MMPI is not a test that can adequately indicate if a test taker has PTSD or a personality disorder.

5:47 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge.

5:45 p.m. ET: Arias is not paying attention to Martinez's cross examination of Geffner. She appears to be taking notes on something.

5:44 p.m. ET: Martinez asked Geffner if he was testifying today out of the goodness of his heart.

Martinez: “You said that with regard to this case, the only amounts that you’re getting paid are your salary, right?”

Geffner: “That is correct in all cases.”

Martinez: “You’re not getting any more money out of this case other than the payments you get as part of your salary.”

Geffner: “That is correct.”

Martinez: “That nobody is paying you any money for this.”

Geffner: “Yes, sir. “

Martinez: “Even though you’re not getting any money for this particular case, sir, you’re still the same individual who will go to court if you believe in something and make things up, right?”

Grffner smiles as Willmott objects and the judge sustains the objection.
