Hi LittleLaughter and all :69

Jodi is simply fascinating to me, Travis's death is a terrible way to find out someone is so complexly evil and warped.

I think it is going to be hard to find someone with the hubris and moral void coupled with the flare for verbal gymnastics, along with Jodi's total lack of self awareness of how she was perceived by most folks. And to think we only caught a glimpse of how depraved a woman she is. It is poor Travis who got to see what the real Jodi is capable of when she was unfettered by the forced civility she must now try to emote.

And what is Jodi's great reward for when she behaves in a socially acceptable manner? When she forces herself not to be violent and forces herself to remain silent "when she knows better" than anyone else, when she forces herself to submit to the whims of those she finds her inferiors? A nibble of a Hershey bar in her cage. And this reward, Jodi seems to think makes her a Rock Star.

The inanity of her pompousness is amazing.

I think James Holmes from the Batman massacre may be a very interesting person to watch, study, research and chat about. I am on the fence about him as to whether he really was a nutter (psychotic) or just another mentally unbalanced despicable person like Eddie Ray Routh. I lean toward bad character with Holmes with some personality disorder but not psychosis.

We will know when the trial starts. I already have cast my vote of no confidence in the insanity plea working for him but that is just a guess until we hear some actual facts in the case. The deck is definitely stacked against the prosecution in Colorado when it comes to the insanity plea. Still a long shot though.

Hi Carmelita-
Jodi is indeed fascinating, like Diane Downs, Melanie McGuire, Susan Smith...on and on. There's so much narcissism in many nutters that one will surely surface soon enough.
I kind of think the batman shooter is cray-cray. The look on his face suggests to me that he is kinda bonkers. Idk though, I might change my mind after the trial starts.

You could be right, James Holmes might be a common nutter, he may have even been psychotic at the time of the killings, but I can make a pretty good psycho face myself :69 . I hope they reveal a lot about his computer searches leading up to the massacre.

Anyhow the only name I recognized from your list is Susan Smith I can't believe she will be eligible for parole some day. Some people need to be caged. Evil does not need to be understood it needs to be stopped.

If you find a good case please bring it here :). I have been following the two twelve year olds who stabbed their classmate and almost killed her to please Slenderman (a fictional villain) they are being tried as adults. The leader of the two Morgan Geyser has been medicated to the point of being considered competent to stand trial is my understanding of where the case is at currently.

Jodi Arias' Lawyer Tells How the Murderer Had to Keep Her True Personality Hidden

ABCNews
By Meghan Keneally | April 15, 2015

Jodi Arias' attorney says the convicted murderer is really "very chit chatty and smiley" but being in court prevented her from showing that side of her personality during the trial.

Jennifer Willmott was one of two attorneys at Arias' side from the beginning of her trial for the murder of her on-off boyfriend Travis Alexander in December 2012 until Arias was sentenced Monday to life in prison without parole.

Willmott said that in spite of her plea to the court on Monday, where Arias said she viewed the death penalty as a release because then she would be free, Arias was actually fearful of a death sentence.

"I don't know how she feels about dying but it's really what comes before that that's so awful, to be on death row, so yeah, she was afraid of that, she did not want the death penalty," Willmott told ABC News affiliate KNXV in Phoenix.

Well what a shame we didn't get to see poor Jodi all chit chatty.

Just the fact that Willmott is wistful about Jodi's "chattiness" is enough to let me believe Willmott is of questionable charter herself. What a very odd thing for a defense attorney to say.

Perhaps Willmott really is as bad of an attorney as she seemed to be, what a poor choice of words "All she knows how to do is be deadpan serious.”

ABC as usual gets it wrong by saying that there were 2 hold out jurors. I think the fact that it was a second jury in the new penalty phase confused them.

This is a little bit old but it is still a relevant ruling in the Jodi Arias case that I didnt see posted yet:

Judge orders Jodi Arias to pay $32,000 to victim's family
Michael Kiefer, The Arizona Republic 7:50 a.m. EDT June 23, 2015

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nati ... /29148029/

PHOENIX — A Maricopa County Superior Court judge on Monday ordered convicted murderer Jodi Arias to pay more than $32,000 in restitution to the siblings of Travis Alexander, the man she killed.

Arias, 34, who was sentenced to life in prison in April, did not attend the hearing.

According to Arias' defense attorney, Jennifer Willmott, the restitution amount was about one-third of what the family requested as compensation for travel and lodging and other expenses related to Arias' two trials.

Willmott said that she went through the receipts submitted by the family to arrive at the amounts awarded. She also requested the amount of money that the family had received in donations from trial followers to offset their expenses. They declined to reveal the amount.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez said that the Alexander family was traumatized and had no interest in returning to Arizona for the restitution proceedings, so Judge Sherry Stephens awarded the amounts offered by the defense team: $15,530.73 to sister Samantha Alexander; $10,754.99 to sister Tanisha Sorenson; $4,232.11 to sister Hilary Wilcox; and $1,372 and $225.60 to brothers Stephen and Dennis Alexander, respectively.

If and how Arias can actually pay those amounts remains to be seen.

Prison Update: Jailbird Jodi Arias Scores Shocking New Perks Behind Bars –– TV, Church & More!

Image

Jodi Arias is slowly getting new perks behind bars in the Perryville Prison in Arizona, and RadarOnline.com has a gallery of her shocking new luxuries.

Things aren't so bad for the convicted killer who is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole in Arizona's Perryville prison. Despite the scorching heat, Travis Alexander's killer is reportedly keeping cool. "She also has a Styrofoam ice chest that the guards will fill with ice. And if she points her fan into the ice chest, she gets a nice bit of chilled, cool air!" her supporter site, jodiariasisinnocent.com claimed in a new post.

Her boring prison-issued uniform had an upgrade – Arias apparently had a brand-new pair of white tennis shoes, according to the site.
[...]
While her family refused to testify for her during her trial, she was able to visit with them and any friends on her pre-approved list for three hours each Thursday.

The murderer is slowly getting her security relaxed. After living in the maximum security prison for a few months, she no longer was in full restraints and also no longer had two guards escorting her to visitation time, the website claimed.

Arias is now reportedly branching out into the general population, having meals in the Perryville "dining room."

But she still had enemies, the site claimed: "It's true that haters did contact an inmate promising to give her money for exchange of giving Jodi a hard time in prison BUT that inmate didn't accept and told Jodi!"

The site claimed that the meals Arias ate in Perryville were "solid food and she gets meat!" What do you think about Arias' new perks in prison?

Thanks for the heads-up, Carm!

I'm going to pre-order right now :)

(The best book I've ever read is Helter Skelter, by prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi.)

I bet Juan's book is going to be good!

I hope you are feeling better, Carm! :)

Mal, I held off on ordering. I'll have my charger for my tablet by then and want to see if it's available to download (at a lessor price).

BUT, if I get hardback I can send to you ;)

Depends on price difference. :D

I do hope that Juan tell us what he was thinking toward the end of the trial when he made fists by his side with hands and he said something along the line of "If the defense wants to earn a few more pennies" . I thought Wilmott was going to go for his throat at that point.

Jodi might demand that Juan send her a rose and a Hershey bar once a week once she hears about Juan's book :Gslap
