ANOTHER shooting......

Police shoot 19-year-old near Ferguson

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A teen was shot by police overnight, not far from the unrest that unfolded for the third night in Ferguson.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday at Chambers Road and Sheffingdell Court in unincorporated St. Louis County.

St. Louis County police say they responded to a report about four masked men carrying shotguns in the area. The caller said the suspects had fired shots.

When police arrived at the scene they saw the men running. One officer "came into contact" with a suspect, who turned and pointed a handgun at the officer.

A police officer fired at least once at the 19-year-old suspect, wounding him. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. His name has not been released.

The officer is on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure while the shooting is investigated.

Police say the suspect's handgun was recovered at the scene.

By Reuters, Filed: 8/13/14 at 5:32 PM

FERGUSON Mo. (Reuters) -
The police officer involved in the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager last weekend in Ferguson, Missouri, an incident that has sparked repeated and sometimes violent racially charged protests, was injured in the encounter and treated for a facial injury, the city's chief of police said on Wednesday.

Police Chief Thomas Jackson told a news conference on Wednesday the officer was treated in hospital for swelling on the side of his face.

The officer involved has not been identified.

The Sheriff of Ferguson was on Sean Hannity's show Wednesday night.

The Sheriff stated that there was a struggle for the gun in the policeman's car and Brown was shot in the car.

I know it is very early in the investigation but what sense does the witness's story make? What police officer is going to grab a 6' 4" 300 pound man around the neck and try to pull him into a cruiser, while the police officer is seated in his car ? To what purpose? Also is it even physically possible for a seated officer to grab a man around the neck? Anyone know if it was a regular sedan police car or a Suburban type? The witness said the officer was trying to pull Mike into his car. That scenario makes absolutely no sense.

Yet Mike was shot in the police car. What is the most logical reason a man who refused a police officers demand would have any part of his body on the inside of the driver's side of a police cruiser when a police officer is inside of it? The officer made a simple demand, follow an ordinance which most reasonable people seem to have no trouble following without even being told to do so.

Also the witness told the interviewer that after Mike was shot he was trying to talk but could not yet he tells the interviewer what Mike would have said if he could have said it. Eh?

Who has a right to walk down the middle of a street? Even the witness said all the police officer at first did was tell them to get out of the middle of the street (allegedly the officer didn't say please and he even used the F bomb which offended the witnesses sensibilities) yet the same witness didn't see anything offensive or wrong in putting drivers in jeopardy by walking down the middle of a street rather than using the sidewalk.

Mike and the witness kept on walking down the middle of the street after the witness told the police officer why they should be entitled to walk down the middle of the street in traffic. Someone should not be shot for walking down the middle of the street, someone should not be shot for being black, neither scenario seems to be the case at this early stage with the scant information which we have.

Good gravy.

At this point, who knows what exactly happened? But the investigation will either corroborate or refute the witness story. The locations of the shell casings, the entry wounds, and the paths of the bullets will demonstrate how far away and from what angle(s) the officer shot Brown.

The facts will tell the story. Once we know the facts, then we can deal with the consequences of those facts.

But in the meantime, we have to deal with the consequences of a bunch of menacing, looting savages.

Agreed. I simply find Dorian Johnson's story of a seated officer in a cruiser trying to pull a 300 pound 6' 4" inch, calm complacent (but looking a little angry) man into the cruiser through the drivers window, far fetched.

It was the Chief of Police (not the Sheriff) on Hannity's show last night.

Then, I heard this morning on Fox and Friends, that the policeman was injured in the car (face) and had to have the injury treated.

The Chief would not indicate how many times Brown had been shot.

BREAKING: Ferguson Police Chief Releases New Info That Turns Michael Brown Shooting Case On Its Head

Read more at http://www.westernjournalism.com/breaki ... SdGWlx4.99

Additional information came out Wednesday that suggests Brown’s death was anything but a murder. Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson confirmed the still unidentified officer who shot him was serious injured by the teen.

The “side of his face was swollen” after Brown struck him, Jackson confirmed, though he did not offer specifics regarding the officer’s condition.

Dorian’s words (maybe not verbatim but very close) ; We was walking down the middle of the street, before the officer pulls up traffic starts to pick up, no cars started to honk at us as if we were in the way, or making hard turns like they gotta get out of our way, so we didn’t feel like we was causing a problem to anyone.

Then the police officer told them to get on the sidewalk in a real aggressive manner. (Anyone else hear his attorney say “get the “ef” and then Dorian says “get the “ef” on the side walk which his attorney responds “right” ).

Dorian Johnson also accuses the police officer (subtly but the accusation is there) of trying to run them down which the officer would have been successful at, according to Dorian, if they didn’t “get out the way.”

What the hell are cigarillos? Who holds onto to cigarillos (whatever they are) and then calmly hands them to their friend and says “hold these”, while they are in choke hold and trying to pull away from an aggressive person. At this point Mike is only angry with a “frowny face” but not aggressive, after almost being run over, grabbed by the throat by a police officer, and trying to struggle to get away from being pulled into the police officers car through a window, all according to Dorian.

And what the hell does “At no time did I think that the officers life was in that much danger.” mean?

The gun going off scenario is also convoluted.

And why would Dorian say that the police officer didn’t mean to shoot Mike? And then Dorian is stooped down by a car and he claims the officer was in the car for 2 to 3 minutes because the officer was in shock. Dorian also says that Mike ran by him and said “keep running bro”. But 2 or 3 minutes later per Dorian’s version, Mike is still right there at the scene and Dorian is either standing by a car or crouched down by a car.

I’m sorry but as presented by Dorian it is a ludicrous scenario.

Police chief calls Ferguson, Missouri, a 'powder keg,' seeks calm
By Michael Pearson and Ana Cabrera, CNN
August 14, 2014

Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) -- Ferguson, Missouri, is a "powder keg," the city's police chief said Thursday, ahead of yet more protests expected after the shooting of African-American teenager Michael Brown.

"The whole situation is not good at this point," Chief Thomas Jackson told reporters a day after clashes in which police fired smoke bombs, tear gas and rubber pellets at protesters who he said had thrown firebombs at police and engaged in gunfire.

Jackson said police would talk about changing "not only the tactics but also the appearance" of law enforcement, who have been widely criticized for what critics say is a heavy-handed response to protests.
