Motorist hits crowd members, pulls gun at Central West End protest
4 hours ago • From staff reports

Image

A man was arrested during protests Wednesday evening in the Central West End after he drove through the crowd and later waved a gun at protesters.

The incident happened during a day of demonstrations that brought protesters to several sites in and around St. Louis.

In the incident Wednesday night, a protest leader said four protesters were hit. A police spokeswoman said nobody was seriously hurt.

The incident happened around 8 p.m., after about 75 protesters gathered in Maryland Plaza and were beginning to lay down for a “die-in” in the street.

As they did, a man driving a Town and Country minivan drove through the intersection and accelerated through the crowd. One woman was seen crouching on the hood of the minivan as the van continued forward. She fell off as the vehicle rounded a curve.

Protesters chased and then surrounded the minivan, and the driver waved a black handgun at them. At one point, protesters broke out the van’s back window. Police took the man, who appeared to be in his 50s, into custody.

Leah Freeman, police spokeswoman, said it was unclear whether the protesters jumped onto the motorist’s vehicle or if the motorist drove toward the protesters in an attempt to get through the crowd.

Why were the dopes blocking the road and attacking the man and his car not arrested? #Ferguson

Story makes no sense to me?
Why was man arrested?
Why were the people blocking the road and attacking the property and person not arrested?
The guy showed restraint in not shooting the crazed lunatics, especially in light of hammer murder.
The guy stayed in his car, so even complied with new “Safari park” laws.

More rumor reported as fact by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: the report that the motorist 'accelerated' was provided by protesters. If he had come to a stop first, then inched forward, that wouldn't qualify as accelerating. Bottom line, if he had really accelerated, people would have been hurt, but none of the protestors appears to have suffered any injuries.

Let's hope the motorist has a permit to carry. And that he wasn't drinking: in Missouri it's a felony to possess a loaded firearm while intoxicated. And though citizens are permitted to carry firearm while hunting, you can only have one in your car "when traveling in a continuous journey through the state."

Charges not recommended after investigation into Vonderrit Myers death
Posted 11:11 pm, December 5, 2014, by Paul Schankman, Updated at 11:24pm, December 5, 2014

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The St. Louis Police Department’s investigation into the shooting death of Vonderrit Myers Jr., ends with a decision not to seek charges against the officer who shot and killed the 18-year-old on October 8. Myers was shot and killed by a city officer working a secondary job as a security guard in the Shaw neighborhood.

“I believe whatever they concluded was false,” said VonDerrit Myers Sr., the teenager`s father.

To believe the version of events Vonderrit Myers Jr.`s parents believe, you have to be willing to believe police are staging a sinister cover-up.

“He did not have a gun at all,” said Syreeta Myers, Vonderrit Myers Jr.`s mother. When asked by a reporter where she though the gun reportedly found at scene and allegedly used by her son came from, she replied, “the police.”

The police have maintained all along Myers had a gun and was firing at the officer, making the officer`s use of deadly force justified. Police also say there was gunpowder residue on Myers, and that several shell casings matching the gun police allege he had, were found nearby, confirming the allegation Myers shot at the officer.

But unlike other St. Louis City police shootings, this is the first to be reviewed by the newly formed Force Investigative Unit.

Under the new rules, when the FIU finishes its investigation, the unit`s findings automatically go to the circuit attorney for a separate review.

Give me a break.

The sandwich kid was on bail for firearms charge. Wearing ankle bracelet and breaking terms of bail, being out and having a gun. He fired at a cop.

Suck it up people...

And wasn't the gun recovered at the scene the same one Vondereit flashed on social media?

Losing any support for protestors who do this violent, destructive stuff and block people from going to their destinations. And how sad it is when leaders are some of the biggest race baiters, and then to see a mayor who doesn't seem to care about his police force.

Michael Brown witness Dorian Johnson hired to do work for city of St. Louis
6 minutes ago • By Nicholas Pistor

Image

ST. LOUIS • Dorian Johnson, who shot to fame as a witness to Michael Brown's fatal encounter with Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, has been hired to do work for the city of St. Louis.

Jeff Rainford, Mayor Francis Slay's chief of staff, has confirmed that Johnson was hired under a state grant through the city's Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE).

Officials said he is doing work for the city's parks department. The job, listed as a temporary position, pays about $8.50 an hour.

Rainford said Johnson met the low income eligibility requirements for the hiring.

Johnson, 22, was with Brown at Ferguson Market and Liquor when Brown stole a box of Swisher Sweets cigarillos and shoved a store employee. Johnson was walking with Brown when they were stopped in the street by Wilson.

Johnson couldn't be reached for comment.

Officials have said Johnson will not be charged in connection with the cigarillo incident. While enrolled at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Johnson had a bench warrant issued against him on a misdemeanor theft charge.

His former attorney, former St. Louis Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr., also confirmed the employment and said Johnson had been looking for work and his happy to have a job.

More Ferguson grand jury documents released
Posted 6:09 pm, December 8, 2014, by Shirley Washington, Updated at 06:08pm, December 8, 2014

ST. LOUIS (AP) _ The prosecutor who oversaw the Ferguson police shooting inquiry has released additional grand jury documents after not including a law enforcement interview with a key witness in the initial public release of evidence.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch made the additional information public Monday evening, without explanation. The new material includes transcripts of eight federal interviews of possible witnesses to Michael Brown’s shooting death in early August.

Those transcripts and the other new material weren’t among the more than 5,700 pages of documents released by McCulloch on November 24.

The first batch of documents didn’t include a transcript or a recording of a two-hour FBI and county police interview with Brown’s friend, Dorian Johnson, who was with Brown when he was shot.

The documents being released include:

Eight interviews federal investigators conducted with witnesses, the Michael Brown autopsy conducted by the Department of Justice, and audio recordings of gunshots from August 9, the day Wilson shot and killed Brown

AUDIOTAPE CONFIRMS WILSON’S STORY OF BEING ‘CHARGED’

An article at the Washington Post concluded that an audiotape released Monday, Dec 8th of the shots fired by Officer Wilson at Michael Brown, combined with forensic evidence from the scene and compared with witness testimony, corroborates Wilson’s testimony that Michael Brown was charging him.

Using the shots on the audio tape to calculate the time elapsed and the distance covered during two volleys of shots from Wilson, the first of six shots and the second of 4, separated by approximately 3 seconds, the newspaper says it shows incontrovertible evidence Brown was killed a total distance of 48 feet from where he stopped and turned toward Wilson, and was initially moving at a very brisk pace of 7.4 feet per second, and then after pausing covered the last 17 feet at about 10 feet per second.
