NZ Maori game:
Is this like a warm-up team?

I have it on my calendar with a question mark, I think this is what I was going to ask you.

The NZ "Maori Allblacks" is clearly NOT the full NZ international side... A proper "Test Match"... but regarded as "almost a test match"

"The 2017 Lions Tour" will go down in the history books and be remembered based on "The Test Series" (3 Tests)

These matches V NZ provincial sides are really just "warm ups" for "The Test Series"
This game V NZ Maori is not a TEST.. but as I say.... almost... so the Lions will be regarding it as important.

Thanks. I've been reading at AllBlacks and didn't realize the culture of the Maori. These players have worked hard. So interesting.

Maori rugby has its biggest day for 12 years as the Maori All Blacks take on a British & Irish Lions team looking to make a strong pre-Test series statement in Rotorua on Saturday, a week out from the first Test of the DHL New Zealand Lions series. Eight encounters have been played between the two sides with the Maori All Blacks' only win being achieved by the Jonno Gibbes-led side of 2005.

I've been reading at ESPN > Rugby.

This is a HUGE match tonight. :)

This is from just one of many articles.

Odds

The bookies aren't giving the Lions much hope of turning their fortunes around on Saturday. Unibet has the All Blacks at 1/6 favourites to wrap up the series this weekend with the Lions outsiders at 17/4. We've seen a draw in Wellington already this week, and Unibet is offering odds of 33/1 for another to take place.

Prediction

As much as I'd like to see a close contest [this is coming from a New Zealander] I just can't see it taking place. While I'm not picking a 30-point drubbing as was the case the last time these two sides met in Wellington in 2005, the All Blacks are likely to build from their first Test win while the Lions continue to squander golden opportunities. All Blacks by 15.

I can NOT imagine the AB's not winning. It could be a close score.... but it could be a win by 30 points.. or more.

ETA
Sonny Bill Williams sent off (Red Card) after 1st quarter changes things.
NZ will only have 14 men for the rest of the game.

Also... RAIN makes it likely a low scoring game.

I stayed up and watched this match after reading for a few hours at ESPN. Glad I did. I think this is the first "series" draw I have seen.

So the Lions still haven't won at Eden Park in 23 years...?
This tour went by too quickly.
