Taylor Milestone??
Highest batting average (all nations) in ODI for team batting first. (47.91)
(Taylor is in 9th place when averages for both innings included)
Commentators hail him as an "International star" :roll
But..... they miss the point.. don't consider what his SR is.
The fact that he scores runs (47 on average) is in part because he bats from near the start of the innings (3 or 4) means that he likely occupies the crease for a large portion of NZ's available overs..... unless he has a SR of close 90 -100% he likely did NOT help the team to set a target of 300+ (as needed these days).
Taylor ODI SR 83.17% ===> Team total of 250 (a losing total in most games these days)

FYI at the moment Taylor is 1/12 (SR 9.09) :doh

And......... Taylor goes out :doh
LRPL Taylor c & b Chahal 24 (41b 3x4 0x6) SR: 58.53

New Zealand 69/3 * (18/50 ov) (RR 3.83)
At least with Taylor gone, NZ has a chance now to pull finger and get the RR up to a competitive level :roll
At this stage even 250 looks unlikely? Not good enough.

Prediction (2x30 0v)
New Zealand 133/6 * (30/50 ov) (RR 4.43) ===> Final score 266
(and 6 down is not "wickets in hand") :cool

Williamson OUT... that's torn it :doh
KS Williamson c Shankar b Kuldeep Yadav 64 (81b 7x4 0x6) SR: 79.01

New Zealand 146/7 * (33.1/50 ov) (RR 4.4)
I doubt NZ will last 50 overs... or score 200

NZ all out in just 38 overs... HOPELESS!! :wall
New Zealand 157/10 * (38/50 ov) (RR 4.13) (Adjusted to 50 ov, RR 3.14)

Innings Break
India will have to come out for a few overs (10?) before the dinner break... then resume for second session

Target for India 158 (Req. RR 3.16)

I HOPE India can do this in less than 40 overs.. Req. RR 3.95

That is NOT a big ask since NZ only batted 38 overs... India should easily score as many runs in less than 38 overs... maybe even 30 overs? (Req.RR 5.27)

Dinner Break
New Zealand 157
India 41/0 * (9/50 ov, target 158) (RR 4.55)

India require another 117 runs with 10 wickets and 41.0 overs remaining (Req. RR 2.85)

One more over after the break (abd 1 wicket falling)... and they are OFF... for sun in batsmen's eyes :roll
Since we gained half an hour on NZ innings... the lost time should NOT require lost overs (and a DL calculation)

Update
Match HAS been reduced... only one over.. it is officially a 49 over match, and target reduced.. but only by 2 runs? :doh
It is not likely to matter but it is clearly unfair that India have one over less yet still have to score the same number of runs (less only 2)
All the more reason for India to get on with things and knock these runs off early!!

This is PATHETIC!!! Why schedule an International match at a venue that is KNOWN to have this issue??
The ground is simply not fit for purpose... certainly not for an International game.

RESULT
New Zealand 157
India156/2 (34.5/49 ov, target 156)

India won by 8 wickets (with 85 balls remaining) (D/L method)

First Innings Rugby V Cricket

Team Rugby wins the toss... and opt to field.

As coach Sir Graham Henry said he wanted. Makes sense for Rugby team to field...let cricketers set a target. Rugby no doubt have "power" to bash any chase with Brendon McCullum opening the batting for them

Team Cricket Innings

Flemming and Nathan Astle opening the batting for Cricket
Dagg and Jordie Barrett bowling

I have to say it is looking more "Mickey Mouse" than I imagined... it might buck up I guess?
I am not expecting a lot of "elegant cricket".... but a bit of bashing to the boundary would be good from both teams.

Richie Macaw.. takes a catch!!!! Fleming OUT!!
Team Cricket 14/1 (2 ov)

Innings Break
Team Cricket 168/8 (20/20 ov) RR 8.4
A shame that "cricketers" (even old ones) could not manage quite a few more 6's facing mostly crap bowlers??

Target for Team Rugby 169 (Req. RR 8.45)
Brendon McCullum in at No. 4

Result
Team Cricket 168/8 (20/20 ov)
Team Rugby 171/5 (19.2/20 ov) (target 169)

Team Rugby WIN (with 5 wickets, 4 balls in hand)

Glad India is batting first...
That means a good chance that the game will be a high scoring affair.. always more entertaining
As always a proper ODI team should manage 300+, maybe 350+

PREDICTION (2.5x25 ov)
(3x25 has shown to be excessive... try 2.5x)
India 154/0 * (25/50 ov) ===> Final score 385

PREDICTION (2x30 ov)
India 173/2 * (30/50 ov) ===> Final score 346

India lost their way a little.... falling short of 350+
India 324/4 (50/50 ov) RR 6.48

Innings Break

Target for New Zealand 325 (Req. RR 6.5)
I can't see NZ making that target... since they seem to lack any idea about SR 100+ required :roll

Williamson.. Great over 6,6,4, 2....... but then he played on and was OUT! :doh
New Zealand 51/2 * (7.5/50 ov, target 325) RR 6.51
New Zealand require another 274 runs with 8 wickets and 42.1 overs remaining (Req. RR 6.49)

And it gets worse... Taylor is in now!! :wall
The longer Taylor bats.. the higher the Req RR for the team will get. NZ's last chance is for Taylor to get out ASAP.
Good news... Taylor OUT!
LRPL Taylor st †Dhoni b Jadhav 22 (25b 2x4 0x6) SR: 88.00
His SR of 88 was NOT good enough and was making the task harder and harder for the team.

New Zealand 100/4 * (17.1/50 ov, target 325) (RR 5.82)
New Zealand require another 225 runs with 6 wickets and 32.5 overs remaining ( Req RR 6.85)

New Zealand 157/6 * (29/50 ov, target 325) (RR 5.41)
New Zealand require another 168 runs with 4 wickets and 21.0 overs remaining Req RR 8.0
RR 8.0 translates to Av SR of 133%.... NZ batsmen simply do not do that :roll

Kuldeep Yadav on a hat trick....... NOPE :95

Bracewell OUT... but he is a keeper...
DAJ Bracewell c Dhawan b Kumar 57 (46b 5x4 3x6) SR: 123.91
Williamson had one great over (apart from going out)
The rest of NZ were rubbish (Mostly)

RESULT
India 324/4
New Zealand 234/10 (40.2/50 ov, target 325)

India won by 90 runs

5 Game ODI series India 2 V New Zealand 0

Great to see NZ police investigating :)

I think the problem is a bunch of hapless NZ amateurs impersonating International cricketers.

ETA
Hey NZ... the 1980's called. They asked for their SR's back.
Looks like NZ might score 200+ ? :roll

ETA2
Ross Taylor should be arrested for Loitering :)

New Zealand batting first...

They are capable of a decent score (300+), but could just crap out and set a lowish target. :roll

PREDICTION (2.5x25 ov)
(3x25 has shown to be excessive... try 2.5x)
New Zealand 95/3 * (25/50 ov) (RR 3.78) ===> Final score 238

PREDICTION (2x30 ov)
New Zealand 127/3 * (30/50 ov) (RR 4.23 ===> Final score 254

Taylor again being praised as "the glue that holds NZ innings together" :roll
I see that he has faced over 100 balls ... more than a third of balls available to the entire team... and he has scored just 86 runs. IMO he is CRAP as always.... more so the longer he bats, and the more of the team's innings he uses up. And again commentators plotting what Taylor will do when he has his "end spurt"... :roll
What he always does is get out and leave others to make up for his slow SR.
I'll go so far as to say... if Taylor makes a century (or just close to it), NZ will likely LOSE... because it will be at a too slow rate. :doh
GREAT NEWS... Taylor out... NZ have a chance
LRPL Taylor c †Karthik b Mohammed Shami 93 (106b 9x4 0x6) SR: 87.73

New Zealand 222/7 * (45.1/50 ov) (RR 4.91)

Again NZ FAIL to bat out 50 overs :doh
243/10 * (49/50 ov) (RR 4.95) (adjusted to 50 ov RR 4.86)

ETA
I concede that Taylor is a "competent" batsman, but I still do not see him as an "asset" in the NZ team. He has NEVER seemed to have that urgency and commitment to doing what ever is need for the team. He seems more interested in showing his "batting eloquence" for his own sake. Preserving his wicket rather than scoring runs. (He is a poser). He MIGHT be more of a team asset if he got on and scored his few runs (at SR 80%) for an over or 2 and THEN had a bash. If he scored a lot of runs... great... he he goes out... also great to make way for somebody who can score more quickly.
Alternatively... Taylor would be acceptable if he held an end while others scored at better than 100%.... but that is NOT what happens.

Innings Break

Target for India 244 (Req. RR 4.88)
As always.. India should aim to do it in just 40 overs... Req. RR 6.1

India are dragging this out a bit :roll
Playing safe... but IF they want some practice (for proper opposition in the WC) they should be knocking the limp NZ bowling "attack" out of the park?
India 80/1 * (18/50 ov, target 244) (RR 4.44)

RESULT
New Zealand 243
India 245/3 (43/50 ov, target 244)

India won by 7 wickets (with 42 balls remaining)

5 Game ODI series India 3 V New Zealand 0

India have WON the Series.

NZ Trying lineup changes....
Which is fair enough given that they have been hopeless!!

However, seems they have not seen fit to DROP TAYLOR :doh

Thing is ... Taylor, like any OK batsman has a "good game" more often than not... but..... a "good game" for Taylor is to bat a long innings, maybe score a century (or close to it) but when he does that he uses up about a third of balls available to NZ, and scores at a rate that is simply not good enough to win a modern International ODI. A batsman who scores a fast 30 or 40 (maybe more) at a SR well above 100% would be far more use than Taylor.

India Batting Innings
Great that India bat FIRST.. and so likely will set a proper ODI total (350+?)

India having a bad day :doh
India 33/5 * (12/50 ov) (RR 2.75)

Apparently... conditions are such that NZ bowlers "are getting swing". Bolt is bowling his quota of 10 overs straight through... and gets a 5-fer in his last over.
India 55/8 * (19.4/50 ov) (RR 2.79)

Normal prediction methods do not apply with no wickets in hand. At this stage I would hope India are all out soon... put us all out of our misery.. score less than 100?
India 71/8 * (25/50 ov) (RR 2.84)

India all out
India 92/10 * (30.5/50 ov) (RR 2.98) (Adjusted to 50 ov RR 1.84)

Innings Break
(NZ will have to bat an hour before the scheduled dinner break)

Target for NZ 93 (req. RR 1.86)
NZ SHOULD do this in 40, even 30 overs... 20 overs? (Req. RR 2.33 or 3.1 or 4.65)

RESULT
India 92
New Zealand 93/2 (14.4/50 ov, target 93)

New Zealand won by 8 wickets (with 212 balls remaining)

5 Game ODI series India 3 V New Zealand 1

NZ Innings
NZ get to set a target... lets hope they are not totally hopeless :roll

I HOPE NZ can bat well.. set a target of 200+... then India have to bat well as well. :)
I REALLY can not see why Taylor is in a T20 team? He is too slow for 50 over cricket.... no use at all in 20 overs?
NZ need to hope he is not required.... or gets out quickly?

Tim Seifert looks like a keeper :)
Really makes me wonder why they keep picking Taylor with so many better batsmen around??

ALL NZ batmen have been great so far... but now Taylor is in :doh
At this stage (last 5 overs) SR of 200 is required (expected)
de Grandhomme failed. Taylor mediocre.

New Zealand 219/6 (20 ov) (RR 10.95)
NZ did well. :)

Innings Break
Target for India 220 (Req. RR 11.0)

RESULT
New Zealand 219/6
India 139 (19.2/20 ov)

New Zealand won by 80 runs

NZ Innings
NZ need to set a big target.. say 200+
They are STILL stuck with Taylor.. so the top 3 will need to do it... if Taylor is in for a significant amount of the innings... NZ are doomed :roll
They NEED to move Taylor down the batting order (eta They did that... De grandhomme came in ahead of Taylor)....If Taylor comes in "later" it will be at a stage where NZ need to finish the innings with (say) 12+ runs/over... Taylor simply does not do that... so really Taylor is no use at any stage... that's why I dont see why he is still in the T20 team??
Dang!! Only 10 deliveries remain... and we get Taylor!! :doh

Innings complete...
New Zealand 212/4 (20 ov) (RR 10.6)

Innings Break
Target for India 213 (Req. RR 10.65)

RESULT
New Zealand 212/4
India 208/6 (20 ov)

New Zealand won by 4 runs

3-Game T20I series India 1 V New Zealand 2

New Zealand won the T-20 series
