It may be a quick win for NZ today. Not going well for WI.
Just sayin' ... ;)

FWIW... Current ICC ODI Team Rankings...

https://www.icc-cricket.com/rankings/me ... nkings/odi

Image

I COULD explain how ICC points are awarded/calculated... but it would drive most people insane.

It includes results over the past 3–4 years. It is not a simple matter of points for a win, shared for a draw... it takes into account the ranking of the team that is beaten.. more points for beating a high ranked team etc. :doh

I am sure there will be an APP :roll

SLOW start... 3 maidens :roll

It could be worse... Rigor Richardson could be commentating making it even more boring... oh wait!! :doh

I hope you remember previous "lessons" Molly... about calculating likely final score?

3x25 ov score etc :cool

Yes I do remember but thanks for the reminder. ;)

This is so much more relaxing, watching Cricket, than last year on Gab.
It was crazy and distracting.

(ESPN3 is showing live)

NATURALLY.. Rigor Richardson is spinning this to be a good batting performance... using up 6 overs to get established.

That is the way Rigor bored the NZ fans throughout his career :roll

These days... an "average" ODI score is 300 and so players along the way need to score a RR of 6/ov SR close to 100%

Sure.... it can be lower at the start, and made up later... but that cunning plan falls short if there is too much to catch up.. and wickets fall.

WI Current Run Rate = 3.54

Post subject:  Re: CRICKET: West Indies tour of New Zealand 2017/18

There ya go.... WI look to get over rate up to 4... and a WICKET falls :doh

CH Gayle c †Latham b Bracewell 22 (31b 3x4 1x6) SR: 70.96

BTW
The reason Bracewell is playing in place of Colin de Grandhomme is that de Grandhomme's father died. :(

ETA
And another wicket

SD Hope c †Latham b Bracewell 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

West Indies 41/2 * (10.2/50 ov) WI Current Run Rate = 3.96

NZ commentary again has a daft woman... different from last time!!

WHY?

They already have guys who fill the effeminate slot... lots of them. :wall

I guess it's a "Social Justice"/quota thing?

Next thing ya know there will be an LBGTQ quota. :doh

With the women commentating, I think there already is a LGBTQ thing going on.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.. ;)

But I do recall a player marrying a woman cricketeer.

Just sayin'. :)

Women's cricket is an abomination.... even if you like it, watch it, follow it....it has NOTHING to do with real cricket

Post subject:  Re: CRICKET: West Indies tour of New Zealand 2017/18

The OLD trick of predicting final total as 3x25 ov score is not necessarily valid these days. The game has moved on from VERY slow batting at the start (Rigor Richardson days), but... just for fun.... see how it works out

WI score after 25 overs 108/3 * (25/50 ov) ====> 324 Predicted Final Total

The caveat is always "with wickets in hand" and 3 down at the moment is OK...ish

IMHO:
While Lewis is there there is a chance that WI will score 300+ but if he goes out in the next 15 overs, WI will struggle to make 250

Author:  Rumpole [ Tue Dec 19, 2017 8:12 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: CRICKET: West Indies tour of New Zealand 2017/18

The 2x30 ov score prediction....

WI score after 30 overs 134/4 * (30/50 ov) ====> 268 Predicted Final Total

Possible.. but unlikely if wickets fall ahead of last few overs.

Lewis is the STAR, but even he has a SR only 65.88%
E Lewis(lhb) 56 (85), SR 65.88
It is simply not enough to make a good team total score

With wickets falling, it may well be the case that WI don't survive to bat the last (high scoring) overs. They may well be all out with score less than 200?

Post subject:  Re: CRICKET: West Indies tour of New Zealand 2017/18

Lewis out... that's torn it

E Lewis lbw b Astle 76 (100b 7x4 1x6) SR: 76.00

WI 177/6 * (35.2/50 ov)

There would have been another wicket (run out) if Latham was not a useless plonker!!
Wicket keepers are NOT supposed to knock the bails off before gathering the ball :doh

I am NOT impressed with Latham as a wicket keeper.. and he already disappoints as a batsman.

Tea Break

West Indies 248/9 (50.0 ov)
Target for New Zealand is 249.

Innings Break

West Indies 248/9 (50 ov) RR 4.96

Good little end spurt by WI in last 2 overs.

Target for NZ 249
Req RR 4.98

The slight hope for WI is that NZ have been known to play down to a level... make hard work of what should be an easy target :)

The total score prediction was VERY close. I'm thinking NZ should be able to pull this off easily, but hear what you are saying.

Yes, Powell was killing it towards the end for a big bash as you say. ;)

May favorite part starts now.
