Only an hour and a half to complete NZ batting. Not too bad.

Hope to be able to watch all of Aust. bat if they are quick. ;)

RAIN....during the interval

Match delayed by a wet outfield :wall

ETA
Inspection at 9.26pm, with a view to starting again at 9.36pm

ETA
Raining again. If there is a start it will be reduced overs and a DL calculation :doh
NZ are praying for a complete wash-out.
If play does start Australia need to bash whatever target is set. All that is required is the minimum 5 overs :roll

FYI
NZ performance was so piss-poor that the DL target set will be a doddle :)
eg If it were a 5 over game... Australia only need 18 runs (if no wickets lost) :cool

ETA
restart time: 9.57pm with 15 overs to be bowled

Australia's revised target is 95
Req. RR 6.33

I can not find BP rule specific to this tournament, but a standard rule seems to be....
BP (bonus point) awarded to the winning team if their run rate was 1.25x than that of the losing team.

On RR it looks to me like Aust should get a BP? I guess it all turns to custard if its a DL calculation?

This should be VERY exciting. Hopefully a piece of cake for Australia. ;)

I read Warner wanted to bowl and use the heavy batters to chase the target. They better come through.

I've gotta watch on my tablet so I'll peek in later or in the morning. Wait, it IS morning.

:)

Australia won the toss and elected to field.

Wee bit blustery at the MCG and there have been some showers around, so Warner taking the straightforward approach of making England set a target.

England: 1 Jason Roy, 2 Alex Hales, 3 Dawid Malan, 4 James Vince, 5 Jos Buttler (capt/wk), 6 Sam Billings, 7 Liam Dawson, 8 David Willey, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Chris Jordan, 11 Tom Curran

Thank goodness Warner showed up tonight. ;)

Hoping he has as good at bat as he did in the field.

My announcer predicted 140 early on for some reason.?. Weird.

He also said: "The old blokes don't like the runs for 2, but a single is like a dot-ball in T20 cricket."

I think you have same announcers?

The Australian team.... in fact I doubt there is alternative commentary?

That was Kevin Pietersen saying "Single like a dot ball"
(Kevin Pietersen has South African accent.. but played for England... still playing in Big Bash etc.. but winding down his career)

The second half of Tournament will be NZ commentators... so crap :doh

Beware... Rigor Richardson :wall

Oh, okay. I can barely understand him. :roll

I don't get SkySports and have to watch BTSports so I guess they feed off of Sky.
When ESPN shows NZ games, it says SkySports.

LOL, Thanks. :)

I have a question (only one tonight).

A few months back I remember hearing Warner didn't like being partnered with someone in a Test. He said "he doesn't know how to turnover.." or something like that, I forgot the term. His partner was playing like Short is (was).

It makes sense now. I'm wondering if a player like Lynn loses momentum standing there waiting to bat when his partner can't get a ball in an over (or more). Or does it not really affect the batter waiting?

Hope this makes sense. :roll

And thanks.

Yes... and no :cool

Depends... a batsman "on a roll" might well lose "momentum". It is usually better if a batsman hitting boundaries is "fed the strike"... and so the other batsman may well be advised to score a single.. and let the scoring batsman face the bowler.

"Rotate the strike" was probably what they were talking about.

YES, "rotate ......." rings a bell, exactly.

THANKS! :)

Looks like Australia has this in the bag.

May watch on tablet (if I disappear).
