I will say... it is not ALWAYS the case that same Captain used in all forms of the game... even Tests V ODI... so maybe Finch is just "the man" for T20 stuff?? This game at least.

MY opinion is that teams should always try and score at a high rate from the outset... at least until a couple of wickets have fallen.

Better to score the runs up front.... rather than pace an innings (IMO)

It helps batsmen relax.. puts pressure on bowlers

I'd like to see 70 - 80 off 1st 6 overs

(The power play overs with only 2 fielders allowed outside 15 M circle)

Nice to have the players mic-ed for comment now and then... but.... yacking at Steve Smith while he was batting I think may well have distracted him enough to cause the mis-hit.....

That's exactly what I was about to say.
Okay when fielding, but Warner got out right after they were talking to him also.

Big distraction imo.

Crap umpiring... look to clearly be intimidated by India's insistent appeals.... but many teams try that on with umpires they should NOT feel threatened and obliged to give players out. It is INDIA who refuse to embrace technology and allow appeals/replays.. so if there is any downside to that ... .. if umpires unsure, feel the need of replay to be sure.... then tough titty for India.

When it gets to situation like this... tail end batsmen forced to try and hit big overs at the end... I go back to my comment earlier... much better for Top order batsmen to hit a few large overs... it's not rocket science... those batsmen more than capable of hitting 2 or 3 boundaries in an over... the field is UP and so 6's are a much safer prospect.

Surely the announcers are not going to talk to the batsmen (in play) again. :roll

They did a montage of past instances of mic-ed players... it hasn't always been bad :)

The commentators to my mind are expressing the WRONG attitude/strategy. They are suggesting Australia need to pace their innings... score 85 in 1st 10 overs... then 100 in last 10. That is what they tried last time.. and failed... they struggled to score 10/o in last 10 ( as happens at times). IMO Aust (while they have lost no wickets) should, if anything aim at scoring 100+ in 1st 10 overs and so take the pressure off for last 10... much better to go into last 10 overs requiring less than the psychological hurdle of 10+ per over

RIGHT NOW.. with no wickets down, two top batsmen in and established is time to whack 2 or 3 really BIG overs... the sort of thing that the tail end batsmen end up having to do.. as soon as they come out to bat.. and without the same batting skills... My way seems to make a LOT more sense :cool

You gave the same strategy last match, they lost, you were right. :D

Now I can see it in this game.

Finch could have done this if they had not been asking him a million questions while he was trying to bat.

(done bitching about it)

Yes, you are right. :cool

One 6 in an over LOOKS impressive... but.... its NOT!!!

A 6 then 4 singles is still only 10/o and so the burden of neding 10/o remains.

I am suggesting they need a couple of overs of 18 - 20+ runs.

Australia 95/1 (10/20 ov)
