1st ODI, (D/N) at Napier, Feb 13 2019

Toss: Bangladesh have opted to bat first

New Zealand: 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Henry Nicholls, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Tom Latham (wk), 6 Jimmy Neesham, 7 Colin de Grandhomme, 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Lockie Ferguson, 10 Matt Henry, 11 Trent Boult

Bangladesh: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Liton Das, 3 Soumya Sarkar, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5 Mohammad Mithun, 6 Mahmudullah, 7 Sabbir Rahman, 8 Mohammad Saifuddin, 9 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 10 Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), 11 Mustafizur Rahman

Livescorecard

Bangladesh Innings
Prediction (2.5x25 ov)
Bangladesh 114/6 * (25/50 ov) (RR 4.56) ===> Final score 285

Prediction (2x30 ov)
Bangladesh 135/7 * (30/50 ov) (RR 4.50) ===> Final score 270
(7 wickets down is not "wickets in hand")

Final score
Bangladesh 232/10 (48.5/50 ov) (RR 4.75) (RR corrected to 50 ov 4.64)

Innings Break - Target for NZ 233 (Req. RR 4.66)
NZ should do this EASY.... unless there is a batting collapse of some sort. As always I think it would make the game more entertaining if NZ strived to do it in just 40 overs. (Req RR 5.83) Good practice for future games (World Cup)

NZ opting to go slow :doh
As commentators have mentioned... ODI games in UK may well be high scoring.. 350+ targets. Games running to 400+ in UK recently. The way NZ has batted lately they will fail in UK.

Result
Bangladesh 232
New Zealand 233/2 (44.3/50 ov, target 233)

New Zealand won by 8 wickets (with 33 balls remaining)

3-Game ODI Series Bangladesh 0 V New Zealand 1

2nd ODI Bangladesh V New Zealand

SAT 16/2 - 11:00 AM NZDT
2nd ODI, at Christchurch, Feb 16 2019

Toss: New Zealand won the toss and elected to field

Livescorecard

Bangladesh Innings
Some rain... and short delays. No mention of reduced overs.... yet!
Despite the attempts at hype... Bangladesh seem a bit limp as far as international cricket goes.
They are likely to bat slow and NOT set a large target, and NZ do not seem inclined to bat faster than minimum required. :roll
Ross Taylor has dropped TWO regulation slip catches. He is hopelss.

Prediction (2.5x25 ov)
Bangladesh 115/5 * (25/50 ov) (RR 4.6) ===> Final score 288

Prediction (2x30 ov)
Bangladesh 136/5 * (30/50 ov) (RR 4.53) ===> Final score 272

Final score
Bangladesh 226/10 (49.4/50 ov) (RR 4.55) (RR corrected to 50 ov 4.52)

Innings break - Target for NZ 227 (Req. RR 4.54)
IF NZ are serious about preparing for the World Cup they need to do this in well under 40 overs. (Req. RR 5.66)
30 overs would be better still (Req. RR 7.57) :roll
IF NZ can't manage to average RR 7+ for 30 overs (against a mediocre bowling attack)... how on earth will they manage in a WC where they will likely need to average RR 7+ for 50 overs.
Guppy gets a century :91
And... it's NOT a crap century like Taylor gets... Guptill did it at a SR of 132.46% :cool
Bangladesh 226
New Zealand 162/1 * (25/50 ov, target 227)
New Zealand require another 65 runs with 9 wickets and 25.0 overs remaining

Result
Bangladesh 226
New Zealand 229/2 (36.1/50 ov, target 227) (RR 6.33)

New Zealand won by 8 wickets (with 83 balls remaining)

NZ have won the series with one game remaining
3-Game ODI Series Bangladesh 0 V New Zealand 2

New Zealand Innings

Final score
New Zealand 330/6 (50 ov) (RR 6.6)

Innings break - Target for Bangladesh 331 (Req. RR 6.62)
New Zealand 330/6
Bangladesh 242/10 (47.2/50 ov, target 331)

New Zealand won by 88 runs

Toss: New Zealand win the toss and will bowl

TEAMS
New Zealand: 1 Jeet Raval, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Henry Nicholls, 6 BJ Watling (wk), 7 Colin de Grandhomme, 8 Todd Astle, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Neil Wagner, 11 Trent Boult

Bangladesh: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Shadman Islam, 3 Mominul Haque, 4 Mohammad Mithun, 5 Mahmudullah (capt), 6 Liton Das, 7 Soumya Sarkar, 8 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9 Khaled Ahmed, 10 Abu Jayed, 11 Ebadat Hossain

Livescorecard
http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1880 ... nz-2018-19

===========================================================================
Day 1
Image
Tamim Iqbal - Test scoring at SR 100%+
Bangladesh 144/2 * (32.4 ov) (RR 4.4)
----------------------------
OUT: Tamim Iqbal c Williamson b de Grandhomme 126 (191m 128b 21x4 1x6) SR: 98.43
----------------------------
Bangladesh all out - Innings Break
Bangladesh 234/10 (59.2 ov) (RR 3.94)
----------------------------
Stumps Day 1
Bangladesh 234
New Zealand 86/0 * (28 ov)
New Zealand trail by 148 runs with 10 wickets remaining in the innings
===========================================================================
Day 2
Both NZ openers score Centuries.
----------------------------
Taylor out - what a useless plonker!
He is hopelessly slow in white ball cricket.
His ONLY use might be in tests.. and he fails at that as well :doh
LRPL Taylor lbw b Soumya Sarkar 4 (19b 0x4 0x6) SR: 21.05
---------------------------
2nd New ball taken after 86 overs
Image
---------------------------
Stumps Day 2
Bangladesh 234
New Zealand 451/4 * (118 ov)
New Zealand lead by 217 runs with 6 wickets remaining in the innings
===========================================================================
Day 3
Captain Kane got a Century
----------------------------
LUNCH
Williamson now 165.
I think he should be given the chance to make a milestone, 200 and beyond
but IF/WHEN he is out NZ need to declare.
Bangladesh 234
New Zealand 605/6 * (147.5 ov)
New Zealand lead by 371 runs with 4 wickets remaining in the innings
---------------------------
NZ score 703* is the nations highest Test innings score
Williamson 193* is the highest individual Test score at Seddon Park (all nations)
Williamson makes 200 last ball before drinks and declares
Bastid... I would have batted on to give de Grandhomme (76, SR 146) a chance at a century
(would be only his second, and maybe new highest score > 105)
---------------------------
DECLARATION - Innings break
Bangladesh 234
New Zealand 715/6d * (163 ov)
Bangladesh trail by 481 runs with 10 wickets remaining in the innings
---------------------------
With 2 and a half days still remaining there is LIKELY to be a Bangladesh batting collapse sooner or later. :(
But... cricket is a funny old game, Bangladesh could bat a long innings to at least save the game.
I doubt that they could set a target and bowl NZ out quickly on the last day, for a WIN.
Bangladesh ARE at least getting on with things and scoring at a good SR.
They wont survive 2 days just batting defensively.
---------------------------
Stumps Day 3
Bangladesh 234 & 174/4 * (43 ov)
New Zealand 715/6d
Bangladesh trail by 307 runs with 6 wickets remaining
===========================================================================
Day 4
Bangladesh hanging in - scoring at a good rate and NOT losing wickets. :)
Bangladesh 234 & 268/4 * (58.3 ov)
New Zealand 715/6d
Bangladesh trail by 213 runs with 6 wickets remaining
---------------------------
As a bit of an aside....
I am VERY fed up with NZ's "Short pitch bowling attack". It has always been one variation in cricket bowling, but it now seems to be the norm for a large part of the game. Bowling at the batman's head (and body) smacks of the evil "body line" strategy. All is fair in love and war... but cricket has "standards of ethics" to uphold. Besides all that... constant short bowling is BORING to watch... limits good stroke play by batsmen
ETA. NZ have struggled for years to put together a world class bowling attack.... adding Wagner as a bully-boy bowler is NOT the solution. NZ do not DESERVE a Test win (20 wickets taken) here, so I hope Bangladesh can keep wickets intact long enough to save the game.
---------------------------
Image
Soumya Sarkar ( SR 105.26)
----------------------------
LUNCH
Bangladesh survived to lunch
BDESH: 310/4
-----------------
2nd New ball
Image
---------------------
Image
Mahmudullah
Bangladesh trail by 105 runs with 5 wickets remaining

I see there has been a bit of aggressive "banter" by NZ
It seems to me that they are "ratty" because they expected a Bangladesh batting collapse...and no need to even bat a 2nd innings. All the more reason to root for Bangladesh... to at least knock off the deficit (103 now) and set a target/make NZ bat again.
--------------------
Tea
Bangladesh 234 & 424/8 * (99 ov)
New Zealand 715/6d
Bangladesh trail by 57 runs with 2 wickets remaining

Something of an achievement for Bangladesh to make it to tea
Commentators not considering the chance that NZ will need to bat again... so I hope they do
--------------------
Result Day 4
Bangladesh
234 & 429 (103 ov)
New Zealand
715/6d

New Zealand won by an innings and 51 runs

3 Game test series Bangladesh 0 V New Zealand 1

-----------------------------
Stumps Day 1
3.09pm And it has been called off. Half an hour early start tomorrow.
===========================================================================
RAIN... again! :doh
Image
-----------------------------
Stumps Day 2
START of Play called off again. Half an hour early start tomorrow.
===========================================================================
Day 3
Hallelujah... Play today. (98 overs scheduled)
NZ won the toss and will bowl (naturally)
The pitch is expected to be "green".. favoring bowlers.
The only hope for a result in this match is for wickets to fall early.
Even then... it is assumed that conditions will improve for batsmen and so likely 3 days will not be enough time?
---------------------------
Bangladesh all out at tea.
Bangladesh 211 * (61 ov)
Innings Break and tea
37 scheduled overs remain in the day
---------------------------
11 overs after tea and....... RAIN!! :doh
Image
----------------------------
5.43pm Play has been called off for the day
-----------------------------
Stumps Day 3
Bangladesh 211
New Zealand 38/2 * (11.4 ov)
New Zealand trail by 173 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the innings
===========================================================================
Day 4
Time is limited. IF either team want a result in this Test they have to "go for it". (98 ov scheduled today)
NZ is "in the driver's seat" since they are batting. If they simply bat conservatively the match will almost certainly result in a draw. IF they want to go for a result they need to score rapidly... declare setting Bangladesh a target and then bowl them out.
Alternatively... IF NZ wickets fall rapidly... due to "bad luck" or brilliant bowling by Bangladesh, then that too will move the game along.
Taylor scored a Century. Shame it's in a dead match (mostly). Taylor big on personal stats... helping his team win? Not so much! :roll
--------------------
NZ have "knocked off the deficit"
Bangladesh 211
New Zealand 214/3 * (47.3 ov)
Day 4 - Session 2: New Zealand lead by 3 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the innings

IF NZ are serious about a result in this game they need to go like hell to get a lead (say 150), and declare (today!)
NZ can not lose!!
They have second innings they can bat if all else fails. 62 ov remain today and 98 ov tomorrow (rain permitting)
--------------------
At tea... NZ have enough of a lead (161)... but I imagine they will play on to let Henry Nicholls get a century... and Taylor get a double. :doh
Bangladesh 211
New Zealand 372/3 * (76 ov)
New Zealand lead by 161 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the innings
Maybe team lead of 200+? Anything more is sill IMO (especially with rain possible tomorrow)
-------------------
CENTURY - Henry Nicholls
Soon out (for 107)
-------------------
2nd New ball taken
Image
-------------------
Taylor 200
And NZ lead by 200 (enough already)
-------------------
Taylor OUT
Bangladesh 211
New Zealand 421/5 * (83.1 ov)
Day 4 - Session 3: New Zealand lead by 210 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the innings
Still no declaration?? :roll
-------------------
BJ Watling OUT
NZ Declare FINALLY!! - Innings break
Bangladesh 211
New Zealand 432/6d * (84.5 ov)
New Zealand lead by 221 runs
----------------------
20 overs scheduled today (98 tomorrow)
I'd be happy to see Bangladesh survive and save the game.
RAIN tomorrow could help the cause. :)
-----------------------
Stumps Day 4
Bangladesh 211 & 80/3 * (23 ov)
New Zealand 432/6d
Bangladesh trail by 141 runs with 7 wickets remaining
===========================================================================
Day 5
It's been a pathetic farce of a game with half the days lost to rain. I would NOT have minded a team winning as the result of taking a risk to bat all out for a win... but NZ hardly did that, and so I hope Bangladesh can hold out today and save the game for a draw. Unfortunately it is a big ask for them to survive 98 overs.. already 2 down.
For Bangladesh survival is the issue.. runs irrelevant (mostly) but it WOULD be nice to knock off the deicit (quietly) so that at least NZ need to bat again. First step... deficit less than 100
----------------------------
Deficit below 100
Bangladesh 211 & 124/4 * (38 ov)
New Zealand 432/6d
Day 5 - Session 1: Bangladesh trail by 97 runs with 6 wickets remaining
----------------------------
Deficit below 50
Bangladesh 211 & 171/7 * (48.1 ov)
New Zealand 432/6d
Day 5 - Session 1: Bangladesh trail by 50 runs with 3 wickets remaining
---------------------------
15 minutes extra time before lunch
Bangladesh 211 & 203/8 * (54.3 ov)
New Zealand 432/6d
Day 5 - Session 1: Bangladesh trail by 18 runs with 2 wickets remaining
---------------------------
Result Day 5
Bangladesh 211 & 209 (56 ov)
New Zealand 432/6d

New Zealand won by an innings and 12 runs
