That is so funny :84

Not many people there at this gorgeous field for a Saturday.
They must have read your earlier forecast. ;)

Test cricket does not attract huge crowds (in NZ)... I agree I'd expect more on a Saturday... mid-day?

The WEATHER probably putting people off...

It seems like a test usually starts mid-week so that the most exciting days are played during the weekend. Or maybe I dreamed that. :roll Or maybe I am thinking of weekend games played at Eden Park where the crowds are.

My espn live streaming feed is down so they are showing a little league cricket rerun. :(

I can still see the stats page.

ETA
Oh, they moved the live feed down on the page. Happy again. :)

I think you are right... Tests start Thursday (or Friday) often.

No idea WHY they are starting this on a Saturday?

Players off - Rain

South Africa 123/4 (41.0 ov)

The commentators (as always) are ignoring the fact that this game is NOT going to be played over 5 complete days.

SA are doing OK... losing wickets is not such a big deal, in fact just as well get the SA innings done today and get NZ batting.

I assume they are at least including "The Tea Break" within these lost overs?

John: "@Troy apologies from me as a New Zealander for the weather. I was among many who donned foil hats last year and focused our thoughts on a long hot summer but sadly our brainwaves were as flightless as our national icon. What we can offer as a nation though is the kind of batting collapses which generally make five days totally unnecessary for completion of a test match so cheer up old son, you might still see a result."

Hope springs eternal..

AS I SAID...
This test match is NOT going to have 5 days available.... batting "collapses" are required if either team is going to take 20 wickets!! :cool

Good news is they were able to start on time. ;)

Bad news is after 30 minutes, the commentators are STILL talking about the bad NZ review yesterday. :roll

And ...

de Kock enters the field to bat :cool described as "the dangerous batsman for Williamson/NZ"

So we have a du Plessis and de Kock partnership to break. :)
